Overview and Outlook of Activities

• Continue coal supply to Eraring & Delta domestic market and

confirm blending opportunity for export markets.

• Await DPE decision on Airly Extension Project.

• Establish 205 Panel as a ‘single unit’ and continue with 103 Panel

(‘single unit’) and 122 Panel (‘super unit’).

• Plan for preventative maintenance program for upcoming scheduled

shut down period.

Airly Mine – Subsidence Monitoring

• Subsidence monitoring results for the 200 Panel showed

maximum subsidence to be 7mm due to extraction at

80m depth of cover.

• Pillar stress cells in the 200 Panel showed very small

increases in stress.

• A second resurvey of the subsidence line is currently

being undertaken and a report will be provided to DPE

and DRE in the Jul-Sep quarter.

• A trial of InSAR remote sensing technique is ongoing.

• An REF is being prepared for the installation of another

subsidence monitoring line over the 121 Panel.

Airly Mine – Rehabilitation & Land Management

• Airly Mine does not currently have any land available or

subject to rehabilitation works. This is not likely to

change until mine closure.

• Weed spraying program implemented and completed

during summer 2016-17. This program will resume in

Spring 2016.

• Surrounding Mine owned land continues to be leased out

for agricultural purposes – Cattle grazing systems.

• Riparian restoration of Airly Creek on-going.

Non-compliant. Formal Warning Letter from the EPA, dated 3 March 2016, received 11

March 2016, for failure to test PIRMP within a 12 month period. Airly Mines

Annual Return detailed that the PIRMP was last tested on 12 November

2014. Airly Mine was non-compliant on 13 November 2015.

PIRMP tested on 14 March 2016 and will now be tested annually in line with

Annual Return.

Diesel spill as a result

of a derailed Pacific

National locomotive

on Airly Mine’s rail

loop within ML1331.

The lead locomotive of an unloaded

Pacific National train derailed shortly after

the point intersection on Airly Mines rail

loop. The locomotive came to rest on an

angle that was suffice to cause diesel to

spill from the overflow/breather ports of

the fuel tanks. Less than 200L of diesel

was spilt.

Diesel was siphoned from the tanks into a self bunded trans tank to

prevent further spillage. Once the locomotive was re-railed and the train

removed, contaminated material was excavated and removed from the site

to a designated waste facility. The spill site was also treated with a

hydrocarbon bio-remediation product to mitigate against any residual

contamination. The area where the spill occurred was on hard compacted

ballast and gravel foundations. No diesel migrated from the site. Incident

was reported to the Enviro-line, EPA, Fire & Rescue, HAZMAT and DRE.

Rail repair works have been completed to prevent recurrence.
