Extended Synopsis Sister Code is the funny and touching story of three foster sisters with drastically different personalities, living together in Los Angeles. Amber Rose plays Lexi, the free-spirited artist; Eva Marcille is Sheila, the corporate killer with a soft side, and Drew Sidora works her magic as Lavae, the glue that keeps the family together.
With the revered matriarch of the family gone, the James girls must learn to navigate the choppy waters of love, life and sisterhood without her. And when a tragic sisterly secret is revealed, they must learn to dig deep, put their differences aside, and tap into that never-ending bond instilled in them by their beloved foster mother.
Through it all, our three sisters will grow closer, love harder, and ultimately prove that mama James was right all along… blood may be thicker than water, but love is thicker than everything. The story of the James sisters will inspire all of us to celebrate the most important people in our lives: our family.
Lexi James (played by Amber Rose)Lexi is the youngest of our three James sisters, and is the baby of the bunch in every sense of the word. Although a gifted fashion designer, Lexi can’t seem to get anything going in her life. She finds herself in a constant struggle, and uses her feminine wiles to get by instead of her god-given talents.
But when family tragedy strikes, Lexi will be forced to look inward, and tap into the strength instilled in her by her late foster mother to get through it all. She will learn life lessons on the fly, and will ultimately soar in the face of adversity. Lexi’s journey is relatable because she represents so many of us…those who need just a little “push” in order to get off the ground.
Sheila James (played by Eva Marcille)Sheila is the portrait of the modern black woman: strong, smart, and steadily climbing the ladder of success. But underneath the “corporate killer” exterior lies a woman searching for something more. A woman ready for the true love of her life… if she can only learn to let go, and live from her heart, not her head.
Sheila approaches her personal life much like she would a negotiation in the boardroom. But in the face of a family tragedy, Sheila will reveal her softer side, and lean on her sisters for support more than they could have ever imagined. In the end, Sheila will prove that no woman is an island, and nobody is immune to the needs of family, and true love.
Lavae James (played by Drew Sidora)Lavae is the glue that keeps the James sisters together. Blessed with a level head, a loving heart, and a fair nature, Lavae took the reigns as family matriarch when Mama James passed…and she has held them tightly ever since.
When we meet Lavae, she is six months pregnant. She’s in a loving relationship with a good man, and has her two sisters living with her under the same roof. Life is good. But Lavae is harboring a secret…. something that could potentially tear the family apart. Ultimately though, she will learn that all of her hard work has not been in vain. Lavae has taught her sisters well because in the face of tragedy, they form an unbreakable bond and layer of protection around their big sister. A bond instilled in them by not only Mama James… but by Lavae herself.
