Air Flow CleArAnCes 1

Air flow must be considered when positioning merchandisers near walls, other merchandisers and areas where air currents exist. Decreased efficiency and cooling occurs when warm air is discharged from one merchandiser’s air exhaust and is directed to another merchandiser’s air intake. Over time, this can lead to refrigeration failure and product spoilage. Not all models take in or discharge air in the same manner. Refer to the illustrations of the different models types to learn details about each model’s air flow clearance requirements.

Im proper Air Flow

Im proper Air Flow

A merchandiser’s air flow can be disturbed by the air flow from adjacent merchandisers. In this illustration the LTH-18 is placed on the wrong side of this merchandiser lineup. LTH-18 and BCH-18 merchandisers must be placed on the left-hand side of the lineup to prevent the middle merchandiser from drawing warm air.

The illustration below is a lineup of LTH merchandisers properly placed next to each other in series. Notice the air intake arrows are pointed in the same direction for merchandisers located next to each other.

HGL-BS and HGM-BS models must have a 6-in. clearance at the rear and a 24-in. clearance in front. All merchandiser grilles must remain free of dust and debris for optimal performance.

HGL-TS and HGM-TS have a condensing unit at the top. These models require a 12-in. clearance at the top and rear.

NOTE: Always place the singe door case on the left side when placing one and three-door HGL/HGMs in a line-up to avoid airflow problems.

Keep discharge and intake areas free from air currents.

ISF / ISM models must have a 4-in. clearance around all sides of these merchandisers. Do not block the vented base panels. Product must not be placed outside of the designated load limits.

Merchandisers must not draw in air from the warm exhaust of another merchandiser. IS models placed in close proximity must have the air discharge directed toward the inside of the two merchandisers. This prevents warm discharge air from being directed towards the air intake of another merchandiser. See the illustrations below.
