ACCREDITATIONThe Mount Sinai Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Alabama State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Begining January 14, 2014 all advanced practice certificants through ANCC (CNS & NP) are required to complete 25 continuing hours of pharmacotherapeutics as a portion of the required 75 continuing education hours.

7.4 contact hours will be awarded upon attendance at entire event and completion/submission of evaluation. Check with your credentialing body on acceptance of ANCC’s CEUs(This includes 1.0 pharmacotherapeutics contact hours)

FACULTY DISCLOSUREIt is the policy of Mount Sinai School of Medicine to ensure objectivity, balance, independence, transparency, and scientific rigor in all sponsored educational activities. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This course is specifically designed to enhance current knowledge about the prevention, intervention and management of cardiovascular disease. Presentations will provide Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physicians, and Physician Assistants with evidence-based approaches to abnormal findings and information regarding new cutting edge technologies. Lectures will address new insights in managing patients with ST Elevated Myocardial Infarctions, Congestive Heart Failure, Aortic Disease, Coronary Artery Disease, Hyperlipidemia, and Antiplatelet therapies.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis course is designed for Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physicians, Physician Assistants and other health care professionals interested in the care of patients with cardiovascular disease.

At the conclusion of this educational activity participants will be able to:• Describe the latest antiplatelet therapy therapies • Identify the normal and abnormal finding in Chest Xrays and CT scans• Compare the treatment outcomes in female vs male CABG patients• Discuss the management of patients with aortic disease• List the new guidelines for STEMI/ CHF management• Describe the management the geriatric patient in relationship to cardiac emergencies• List the available pharmacotherapies that treat hyperlipidemia• Discuss the clinical indication of implanting a subcutaneous implantable cardiac
