Basic Spot – a point of reference for penalty enforcement, determined by the action that occurred during the down

Previous Spot – where ball was last snapped or free kicked

Succeeding Spot – where ball would next be snapped or free kicked

Live Ball Fouls▪ Fouls after ball has been snapped or kicked

Dead Ball Fouls▪ Fouls during a dead ball period

Double Fouls▪ Both teams commit fouls during same live-ball

period (exceptions: unsportsmanlike/nonplayer) Multiple Fouls
