AHRC Nassau to Participate in AHRC Nassau to Participate in Pilot Program for Managed CarePilot Program for Managed Care

•AHRC and Citizens Nassau have been chosen to participate in a pilot program for the 1115 Waiver, a new program of the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). The new waiver, which is also known as the People First Waiver, will allow the OPWDD to provide more options for services as it moves from a fee-for-service to managed care model. Now, people with developmental disabilities can receive an individualized plan of support.

•The organization is one of multiple COMPASS agencies trying out the waiver system for a year. According to AHRC Nassau, “The COMPASS agencies have been given an opportunity to test service delivery systems to determine what works in the best interests of the people we support.” About 1,000 people from AHRC and Citizens Nassau will take part in the pilot program, which is designed to build a more useful system that provides personalized care.
