BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Important Dispatch Information

All UA Members, Travel Cards and Permits must create an online account at

www.local488.ca.

to be able to apply for a job and pay your dues online.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

You will be sent an automated e-mail response after you have completed your

online dispatch request confirming that you have requested a slip. That e-mail DOES NOT mean that you have been successful in your request. It simply means that your request has been received. If you have not done so

already, please add:

[email protected]

to your contacts or to your trusted senders list. If you do not receive the

automated e-mail, please check your Junk folder.

Before You Begin

• Open To: MEMBERS ONLY means that the posting is available to members of Local 488 ONLY.

• Open To: ALL means that the posting is available to Local 488 Members, Travel Cards, and Permits/Non-UA Members.

Before You Begin

• Faxing is NOT Online. Please make sure all important documents, such as CSTS(09), Trade Tickets, Photo ID, Safety Tickets (Fall Arrest, Confined Space, Etc.), Travel Card* and Reciprocity Authorization Form are attached to your Local488.ca Account and submitted online.

• *If you do not have your Travel Card of Reciprocity Authorization Form, your home Local may email them to Local 488 upon request.

• If you are a UA Travel Card/Permit holder and your card is not deposited at Local 488, you MUST create a local488.ca account to be eligible to pull a slip. If you do not create an account, you will not be eligible tor online dispatch and as such, your request will not be processed.

Step 1. CLICK ‘DISPATCH’ ON THE TOP RIGHT OF YOUR SCREEN.

Step 2. Filter Trades/Job Site/Employer

• To pull down the tab to view the list of trades, click on the arrow in the tab.

• • Select your qualification, then select the trade(s) you wish to search. You may only select multiple trades in the same Qualification.

• • The numbers beside the trade indicates how many calls there are for that trade

If you would like to be more specific and filter by job site and/or employer, you may do so in ‘Advanced Filtering’. Once you are finished selecting your options, click the ‘Search’ button.

Step 3. Select and Compare Job Postings

Browse through the job postings. If you are interested in a job, click‘Interested’. You may select as many job postings as you would like to compare. After selecting all the jobs you wish to compare, click on the ‘Compare Selections’ button.

• Although you may compare as many job postings as you would like, you may only request slips up to a maximum of 6 postings.

• Please select your CHOICES.

• After selecting a maximum of up to 6postings, click the ‘Request Slips’ button.

Step 4. Confirmation

• Please confirm the postings on your screen are the choices you’ve made and that they are the one(s) that you want to request a slip for.

• If they are correct, click the ‘Next Page’ Button.

Step 5. Enter Your Information

Means you are a member in good standing with Local 488.

Means you are a member in good standing with another UA Local

MEANS YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER OF ANY

MEMBERS

• Enter your Social Insurance Number. Make sure that it is correct.

• Enter your First name and Last name.

• Enter your E-mail. Please make sure you have access to your e-mail account. If you are successful in your request, your slip will be sent to the e-mail address that you have provided.

• Select your Trade Qualification.

• Enter the Date you signed the Out of Work Board.

• If everything you have entered is correct, click ‘Next Page’

Travel Cards

• Enter your Social Insurance Number. Make sure that it is correct.

• Enter your First name and Last name.

• Enter your E-mail. Please make sure you have access to your e-mail account. If you are successful in your request, your slip will be sent to the e-mail address that you have provided.

• Select your Trade Qualification.

• If your Travel Card is not currently deposited at Local 488, please use the date of the CALL OUT for the Date Signed Out of Work Board section.

• If everything you have entered is correct, click ‘Next Page’

Non-Members/Permits

• Enter your Social Insurance Number. Make sure that it is correct.

• Enter your first name and last name.

• Enter your email. Please make sure you have access to your email account. If you are successful in your request, your slip will be sent to the email address that you have provided.

• Enter your Trade Qualification.

• Please use the date of the CALL OUT for the Date Signed Out of Work Board section.

• If everything you have entered is correct, click ‘Next Page’.

Step 6. Confirmation of Information

• Please read all points.

• Once you have read the point, click the box next to it to confirm you have read it.

• *Clicking ‘Confirm’ does NOT guarantee you a slip. If your request is successful, you will be e-mailed your dispatch slip along with all relevant job/A&D information to the e-mail address you have provided.

Step 7. Confirm and Submit Requests• Please make sure all the information you have entered is correct. If it is not correct, please click ‘Previous Page’ and make the

necessary corrections. This is your last chance to change anything before submitting your request.

• If everything is correct, click ‘Submit’. By clicking ‘Submit’, you have now completed the online request for a dispatch slip. You should receive an automated e-mail from [email protected]. Should you be successful, your dispatch slip and all relevant job/A&D info will be e-mailed to the e-mail address you have provided.
