Dear Foreign Language Professional,
Everything leads to the 36th Athens International Publishers Exhibition on the 30th and 31st of March 2019.
With 37 exhibitors it proudly proves again to be the largest event in the field of foreign language teaching in Greece. Prominent Greek and international publishing houses, major examination boards and training centres will demonstrate their innovative products and services.
Our programme will be full of presentations and workshops conducted by internationally recognised teacher trainers who will focus on the latest trends in education. The winner of 2018 ELTons Innovation in Teacher Resources - Mark Hancock - will share tips for pronunciation on Sunday evening. In addition, a hands-on workshop will follow for all of those who wish to unlock the secrets of teaching pronunciation.
Over the years, the Foreign Language School Owners’ Discussion Group has become a popular meeting place for a large number of school owners. On Sunday morning you will have once again the opportunity to meet with your colleagues and exchange views on a variety of issues that concern your schools.
Finally, the most important element of every IPE is... you. The visitors of the IPEs have always been the core of our events. You can spread the word by inviting your friends and colleagues to meet you at the Divani Caravel Hotel. Your opinions and requests are welcome and we always try to incorporate them in following exhibitions.
All the above adds up to the 36th Athens International Publishers Exhibition. The organizers, exhibitors and presenters are eager to meet you at the Divani Caravel Hotel on the 30th and 31st of March 2019.
Looking forward to welcoming you,
Philip Dietschi International Publishers Exhibitions

ages of 3 and 7. In this presentation we want to talk to you about a new learning method based on the principles of language immersion. It basically means that the new language is learned organically and intuitively, just like the mother tongue. It’s learning the language in our daily life instead of sitting down with a grammar book. We believe that education and play go hand in hand. If you agree with the above, join us and learn more about how you can keep your students active and interested.

In recent years, the term Life Skills has appeared in various educational manuals and books and has included a large, extensive list of skills that individuals need in order to be successful in their professional, community and personal life. In this workshop, we will work through some of the activities that can be used (and have been used) in classrooms, regardless of subject matter and age of participants, to foster skills such as empathy, decision-making, self-awareness and successful communication We will also provide a small resource pack, with further fun activities and tools for use in the classroom.

Phaedra Tsalababouni is a non-formal education trainer who was born in Greece but moved to Kenya at the age of 9 and has since thought of herself as “belonging to the world”. She studied for an HND in “Design and implementation of educational programmes”, while her MA is in French and Japanese. She worked in Japan as an English Language Teacher. When
she returned to Greece she worked mainly for museums and private foundations in setting up and running the programmes for school visits as well as the educational material for all ages of students. She collaborated with the British Council on a programme targeted towards public primary and secondary school students that focused on life skills. She is currently working as the arts teacher in the Skaramagas Learning Centre - a project set up inside the refugee camp to promote resilience in children 3-6 & 12-18 years of age. She occasionally collaborates with the Onassis Foundation as a translator for English and Japanese. Other than that she is usually found making something - crafts, hand outs for students, food, sets for plays. She believes in personal responsibility and that you teach what you are.

Mark Hancock’s approach in both teaching and writing ELT materials is to engage the learner and inspire their intrinsic interest in the content and in the process of the lesson. This is driven by his belief that teaching and learning a language can and should be an enjoyable experience.
Mark Hancock started teaching English over 30 years ago and wrote his first English language teaching book – Pronunciation Games – over 20 years ago. Mark has taught in Sudan, Turkey, Brazil, Spain and currently lives and works in the UK. Apart from teaching and writing, he also presents at international conferences and leads on short teacher training courses
Pronunciation teaching can be a joy – it doesn’t have to be all complicated theory and difficult symbols.
With a playful and experimental approach, it can be a part of the lesson that your students look forward to most. In this workshop, we will take a look at some examples of fun activities for different aspects of pronunciation.
We will also see how teachers can adapt these ideas to work with the language they are covering in class.
