INTRODUCTION
Advice and contact
The guidelines within this brand identity book are set to ensure the consistency in representing the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (the AHA Centre) as an organisation.
As an organisation, the AHA Centre is assigned to facilitate the cooperation and coordination amongst ASEAN Member States and with relevant United Nations and International Organisations for disaster management and emergency response in ASEAN Region.
In accordance to the vision of One Asean One Response, the AHA Centre aims to provide a more cohesive and aligned approach in performing its mandates and operations successfully within the ASEAN Region.
Thus, a clear and concise identity is crucial for the AHA Centre in each of its roles. Logo clarity, colours, specifications, photo reference, application on media and other specifications can be found in this guidelines, to maintain the consistencies when applied in the field, during deployment, corporate or any other purposes.

WHAT IS THE AHA CENTRE?
The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (the AHA Centre) is an inter-governmental organisation established by ten ASEAN Member States – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. The Centre was established on 17 November 2011 during the 19th ASEAN Summit in Bali, Indonesia, through the signing of “the Agreement on the Establishment of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (the AHA Centre)” by ASEAN Foreign Ministers, witnessed by all ASEAN Heads of States.
The AHA Centre is the operational manifestation of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER), which was signed by ASEAN Foreign Ministers on 26th July 2005, in Vientiane, Lao PDR and entered into force on 24 December 2009. Article 20 of AADMER serves as the AHA Centre’s formal basis and outlines the objective of the establishment of ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management. The AADMER is a regional framework for cooperation, coordination, technical assistance and resource mobilization in all aspects of disaster management.
The AHA Centre receives its overall strategic guidance from the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM), which consists of the heads of representatives of the 10 National Disaster Management Offices (NDMOs) of ASEAN Member States. The Board reports to the Conference of Parties (COP), a ministerial level body, on the progress of AADMER implementation. The ASEAN Secretariat provides policy coordination support to ACDM and the Working Group, and performs the functions as Secretariat to the AADMER.

WHAT ARE THE AHA CENTRE’S FUNCTION?
The AHA Centre’s specific functions, outlined in AADMER’s Annex on the AHA Centre’s Terms of Reference, are to:
1. Facilitate regional cooperation for disaster management.
• Receive information from Member States on the designated National Focal Points (NFP) and Competent Authorities (CAs) for AADMER; as well as any subsequent changes in their designations;
• Receive, consolidate, and disseminate data, analysis and recommendations from the NFPs on risks and regional implications; and
• Facilitate activities for technical cooperation and scientific research.
2. Facilitate joint emergency preparedness and response.
• Facilitate the establishment, review and maintenance of regional standby arrangements;• Receive, consolidate, update and disseminate data on available resources, earmarked assets, and
capacities for regional standby arrangements;• Facilitate joint emergency response;• Receive information on measures taken by Parties to mobilise equipment, facilities, materials, human
and financial resources for disaster response;• Facilitate the processing of transit and exemptions, where appropriate, of personnel, facilities, and
materials related to provision of assistance.
3. Operationalise regional coordination mechanisms for emergency preparedness and response.
• Implement and further develop the Standard Operating Procedure for Regional Standby Arrangements and Coordination of Joint Disaster Relief and Emergency Response Operations (SASOP);
• Oversee the maintenance and operationalisation of the regional logistics hub in Subang, Malaysia in cooperation with United Nation Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) – World Food Programme (WFP);
• Facilitate the training and deployment of the ASEAN Emergency Rapid Assessment Team (ERAT);• Manage the AHA Centre Fund and mobilise other resources;• Support the ASEAN Regional Disaster Emergency Response Simulation Exercise (ARDEX) and actively
participate in other regional disaster exercises to promote and test the interoperability of the ASEAN disaster management coordination mechanisms; and
• Support Member States in developing and strengthening their emergency preparedness and response mechanism and in institutionalising AADMER.

The AHA Centre logo represents the cooperation and harmony between the ten ASEAN Member States. All related parties that support the AHA Centre are represented in the circle shape that surround the ASEAN logo.
The ten half-circular shape represents the ten National Disaster Management Offices (NDMOs) in ASEAN, where it signifies the inception of the AHA Centre at the top of the circle.
The outer-bold-half-circle-shape represent the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management where the AHA Centre received its guidance from.
The dominant blue color on the circular shape represents peace and stability. Red depicts courage and dynamism. Black represents boldness of the AHA Centre.
This logo should be utilised for organisation purposes only.
The AHA Centre logo is the reserved copyright of the AHA Centre.

The minimum spacing is defined as the square that is created from the length of the yellow element and the lower edge of the circle.
The minimum spacing to tagline is defined as the square that is created from half of the length of the yellow element.
If the tagline is placed beneath the emblem, it should be align center.
In these exclusion zones, other elements such as text or graphics are prohibited to occupy the space, either by intersecting, overlapping, or any kinds of interaction. This exclusive zone is intended to ensure maximum clarity and visibility of the logo.

It is imperative to always use the exact specifications, orientation, color guidelines, and integrity of the logo, as detailed in this corporate design manual book, in all of its application in all kinds of media.
The unchanging use of the logo is essential for a consistent presentation of the AHA Centre. For this reason changes to the emblem are not permitted.

Combinations with other logo
The AHA Centre logo should be placed to the right, where possible, of other emblems or ASEAN Member States’ National Symbols, as seen by the viewer.
Additional logos should be evenly distributed and should not exceed the optical size of the AHA Centre logo.

Which background should you choose?
To ensure maximum visibility, the logo should be positioned in a clear, bright area of any background it’s placed at. The monochrome, black-and-white logo is exclusively used in conjunction with a dark background. Avoid placing the logo on a obstructive and busy background.

Design elements
The shape here are examples of how our corporate applications appear as a family. The supergraphic can appear on our collateral to create a distinct and easily recognisable style.
Red and black color symbolise the AHA Centre while the long blue bar stands for member states of ASEAN. The alignment shows the elements in harmony.
The whole design is an interpretation of the core ideas of the emblem and creates a modern visual appearance.
The depicted design elements are used in almost all print publications. The graphic character of the elements as well as their proportional size ratios and form are binding and may not be modified.
Design elements should be placed on the bottom area of the paper / media application.

Photography style
The AHA Centre, in its essence is about the people who are part of the ASEAN community. Each individual who works in it, and everyone who require its help in times of need. Thus, the photos should represent these brave men and women, it’s about the situation they’re in, and how they respond to it.
Mood:Humane, people oriented, factual, action, dramatic, focused, alert, optimistic, cooperation, coordination, managing, organising, assessing, responsive, spontaneous, active, response, unity, andteamwork.
Situation:We are depicting real people, be it the AHA Centre operatives, the SAR Team, paramedics, civilians, especially the ones that are involved in the disaster or emergency. The photos needs to be actual, spontaneous, not a setup or made up. With elements of documentary and photojournalism, we’re depicting these people in actual, believable, real-life situations. To emphasize more on the values of cooperation and coordination, the angle should be dramatic.
The people:Real life people, without make ups or touch ups, be it dirty, dusty, muddy, wet, these people should be shown in their actuality. We want to convey the positivity, optimism, the hope and courage that they relay to the people in the emergency situation. Their interactions, relationship, cooperation, teamwork, and unity. These people should naturally not be aware of them being captured in photography, so looking off camera ispreferable. Depictions of multi-nationality of the people in the pictures are a plus, to emphasize on the collaborative nature of the AHA Centre, as well as ASEAN as a whole. A mix of race, age, gender is recommended to enrich the story and values of these photos.
Color treatment:All the pictures should be colored, with no black-and-white shots unless intended for a clear cause. Color brightness and saturations should be as actual as possible, no alterations or editing.
