NR 701 : Advanced Soil Physics (3C, 3H)

Physical and mathematical description of nonsteady transport processes in soil and the unsaturated zone. Emphasis on analytical and numerical solutions to water; gas; solute (contaminants), and heat transport processes and the chemical and biological reactions attenuating solute movement.

NR 702 : Soil and Soil Moisture Management (3C, 3H)Soil erosion, tillage, water use efficiency and factors affecting it. Management of salt affected soil. Cropping system under different soil moisture conditions. Management techniques for optimizing water use efficiency.

NR 711 : Advanced Soil Chemistry (3C, 3H)

Processes controlling the gaseous; solution; and solid phases in soils including precipitation; acid-base; oxidation-reduction; complexion; adsorption; and ion exchange.

NR 722 : Advanced Environmental Microbiology (3C, 3H)

Current concepts in soil and water quality. Description of modern pollution problems and potential biological remediation techniques. Focusing on chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology of biodegradation in soils and waters contaminated with hazardous toxic compounds.

NR 732 : Advanced Pedology (3C, 3H)

Topics selected from studies of soil-forming processes; USDA soil classification system ; new developments in soil classification; and development of pedologic theory.

NR 733 : Soil Survey and Land Use (3C, 3H)

Techniques used in mapping of soils, characterization & classification of mapping units, Interpretation of soil suitability for various land uses, land use planning.

NR 741 : Surface Water Hydrology (3C, 3H)

Evaporation; transpiration; precipitation; run off; hydrographs; hydrologic cycle; aquifers; Darcys law; hydraulics.

NR 744 : Management of Water Quality (3C, 3H)

Evaluation of water quality for the specific use and potential hazard to crop production; use of non-conventional sources of water; evaluation of the most common problems encountered and the steps necessary to maintain an acceptable level of agricultural production.

NR 791 : Seminar (1C, 1H)

Presentation of current topics in soil , water or agricultural environment.
