Crop Estimation Survey on Principal/Minor Crops

The main objective of the scheme is to achieve the reliable yield estimation of

Various agriculture crops of kharif and rabi season. Statistical wing conducts the

crop cutting experiments on Principal/minor erops in both season for yield estimation.

These experiments are conducted on the random sample method to represent the every crop and to achieve the reliable yield estimation on the basis of these crop cutting experiment results, statistical wing estimates the crop yield and then calculates the crop production with the help of crop arca relcased by the State Revenue Department.

Scheme for Strengthening of Land Record

The main objective of this scheme is bring out the improvement in area

statistics SO as to make them morc accurate and reliable. Tehsilwise area under

various crops has been collectcd by field staff of agriculture and reconciled with Director Land Records Punjab after removing the discrepancies. Blockwise/District wise crop area is also finalized after the reconciliation with Revenue Department. correspondence is made with Director Land Record Office. Improvement of Crop Statisties (ICS) Scheme

This scheme is working in the state since 1974-75 and it is another part of timely reporting scheme. The main objective of this scheme is to improvc the

statistics of area and erop yicld. It is a centrally sponsorcd scheme. In cvery ycar some villagcs are randomly selected both in kharif and rabi scason to conduct

the supervision of crop cutting experiments (Area linumcration Schcdule A.S-

2.0) and girdawari checking (Arca Enumeration Schedule A.S.1.0)

(a) Under Area linumeration, 200 villages arc randomly sclccted for state

and centre sample cach both in kharif and rabi scason. state Statistical staff and

N.S.S.O.offical (G.O.I) checked the girdawari of thesc sclcctcd villages and filled Schedule A.S.- 1.0 and sent it to Govt. of India. This survey work is done jointly by state statistical section and National Sample Survcy Organization

(Govt. of India) This survey removes the discrepancies in girdawari work done

by patwaris. (b) Regarding schedule 2.0 about 700 villages are randomly selected and conducted for state and central sample each during kharif and rabi season to check the crop cutting experiments at harvesting stage conducted by agriculture ficld staff to get the accurate of reliable yield. The schcdule 2.0 filled and sent

to Govt. of India. This survey is useful for the improvement of statistics.
