As our business evolves so does our approach to communities. The Community Small Grants Program aims to build on our ongoing commitment to the communities in which we operate.

AGL’s Community Small Grants Program offers community organisations and groups the opportunity to access financial assistance to support events, programs and initiatives that benefit the local community.

Key areas of focus.The program targets a range of community needs including:

Education, •

Environment and sustainability, •

Health and well being, •

Community infrastructure, •

Arts, •

Recreation. •

About AGL’s Community Small Grants Program.AGL’s Community Small Grants Program is a local grants program that forms part of AGL’s commitment to the communities in which we operate.

The program encourages registered charities and community groups to apply for funding for projects that align with our key areas of focus for a total yearly grant pool of $25,000.

Eligibility criteria.Applicants should meet the following criteria:

Be a registered charity or established community group •with a demonstrated governance structure in place,

Be a legal entity, registered in Australia with a •current ABN,

Deliver an event, program or initiative that provides •benefits to the communities in which we operate – this includes: Tomago, Hexham, Raymond Terrace, Heatherbrae, Woodberry, Tarro, Sandgate and surrounding areas.

AGL will prioritise grants to locally run events, programs, or initiatives that:

Have well defined aims and objectives, •

Provides benefits to the communities in which •we operate,

Contributes to one or more of the key areas of focus •listed above,

Are valued and visible in the community, •

Are focused and have a long term vision, •

Are consistent with AGL’s Values of One Team, •Delivery, Authentic, Vitality and Safe and Sustainable.

AGL will generally not support:

Political organisations or political campaigns, •

Religious organisations for religious activities, •

Requests from individuals seeking support for •personal reasons,

A direct or indirect competitor of AGL, •

Organisations or groups whose planned activities may •pose a health and safety risk,

Funding for private companies or commercial entities, •

Activities which encourage the irresponsible use •of alcohol,

Activities which encourage gambling, •

Activities which provide a direct financial benefit to AGL, •its employees or contractors,

Activities or programs that may breach AGL’s Code of •Conduct or regulatory, licensing or any other statutory commitments or obligations.

Grant funding amounts.Available grants range from $500 to $2,500 from a total yearly grant pool of $25,000.

Grants will be a one off cash grant to be used for the event, program or initiative specified rather than a source of recurring funding.

Funds granted to successful applicants must be spent on the approved activity and must be used by the end of the 2015 calendar year.

Application process.

Important information about your application.

Organisations are welcome to submit more than one •application providing the proposed events, programs or initiatives are different.

Organisations will be required to submit photos as •part of the acquittal process. It is a condition of your application that any images provided can be used by AGL to promote the Community Small Grants Program.

Unfortunately AGL cannot complete the application •form for you, however your local AGL Community Relations Manager, Naomi Rowe, can assist you to understand the application process and requirements. She can be contacted on 02 9921 2311 or [email protected]

We cannot accept late applications, however they •may be considered in next year’s Community Small Grants Program.

Assessment process.All applications will be reviewed by AGL’s Community Small Grants Program assessment panel, comprising of AGL representatives and local community members.

Applications will be assessed based on the information provided in the application. The following process will be used in assessing applications:

Applications will initially be assessed to ensure the 1. eligibility criteria has been met.

Applications will then be given a merit ranking on 2. how well, in the panel’s opinion, the application demonstrates:

The delivery of an event, program or initiative that •provides benefits to the communities in which AGL operates – this includes: Tomago, Hexham, Raymond Terrace, Heatherbrae, Woodberry, Tarro, Sandgate and surrounding areas.

Contributes to one or more of the key areas of focus. •

Not every application that meets the assessment criteria will necessarily receive a grant.

AGL will receive feedback from the assessment panel and will make the final decision on which applicants will receive a grant. All decisions made by the assessment panel are final. Once a decision has been made no further discussions will be entered into.

Applicants may be contacted by AGL directly for the purpose of validating any aspect of the Applicant’s application.

The assessment process will begin once the application process has closed.

Successful Applicants.Successful applicants will receive a “Letter of Grant Approval” from AGL’s Community Small Grants Program team no later than 30 April 2015, confirming the outcome of their application.

Recipients will be invited to attend a small presentation event to receive their funds. Media will also be invited to attend this event.

Unsuccessful Applicants.Unsuccessful applicants will receive a “Letter of Grant Decline” from AGL’s Community Small Grants Program team no later than 30 April 2015, confirming the outcome of the application.

AGL’s Community Small Grants Program team encourages all unsuccessful applicants to apply for future rounds.

Awarding grant funding and acquittal process.

Awarding grant funding.All successful applicants will receive approved funding from AGL in May 2015. Payment will be made by cheque.

Cheques will only be addressed to the nominated registered charity or community organisation.

The funds must be used for the purpose described in the application. If at any time the stated purpose and use of the funds cannot be completed in the manner described in the application, the recipient must advise AGL’s Community Small Grants Program team on [email protected]. Funds are non transferable.

A remittance advice will be emailed to the contact person identified on the application form.

Any grant from AGL’s Community Small Grants Program is GST inclusive.

Use of funding.Any funding provided by AGL’s Community Small Grants Program must be spent on the approved project within the calendar year in which the funding is granted.

Recipients must submit a report to AGL’s Community Small Grants Program team by the end of the calendar year which should include information, including images, on how you met and measured the outcomes of your project, benefits and beneficiaries, as well as evidence of the use of funds granted for the project (eg invoices). It is the responsibility of the organisation to maintain a complete set of records for acquittal purposes.

Recipients are required to submit photos as part of the acquittal process. It is a condition of your application that any images provided can be used by AGL to promote the Community Small Grants Program. Written consent of any persons included in photos must be provided to AGL as part of the acquittal process.

AGL’s Community Small Grants Program team reserves the right to request the return of any unspent funds as part of the acquittal process.

Privacy and confidentiality.By completing the application form the applicant recipient agrees to this information being used by AGL for the purposes of assessing the application and if successful, providing a grant.
