Issue: Tuition and Fees Regulation 4.0102 ________________________________________________________________ Proposed action: Amend USF Regulation 4.0102 to comply with Section 1009.24(4)(b) Florida Statutes. ______________________________________________________________ Background information: Section 1009.24(4)(b) F.S. (State University Student Fees) states that, “the resident undergraduate tuition per credit hour shall increase at the beginning of each fall semester at a rate equal to inflation, unless otherwise provided in the General Appropriations Act." The Office of Economic and Demographic Research (OEDR) of the Florida Legislature annually reports this rate of inflation to the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Governor, and the Board of Governors. On June 5th the Chancellor of the Florida Board of Governors (BOG) sent a memorandum regarding “Consumer Price Index- Tuition Increase” notifying all SUS universities of “the 1.7% rate of inflation tuition increase specified in Florida Statutes.” This memorandum also included a letter from the OEDR to the BOG confirming 1.7% as the “calculated rate of inflation as required by… 1009.24(4)(b) F.S.” ________________________________________________________ Supporting documentation: Memorandum to SUS Universities from Chancellor Brogan Letter from Office of Economic and Demographic Research to Board of Governors
