Jeremy BentonSoutheast Regional Coordinator

WelcomeRepresenting one-third of the entire federal laboratory system, the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC)’s Midwest and Southeast Regions play an integral role in our country’s lab-to-market eff orts. From fostering economic development activities to facilitating technology transfer (T2), each region carries out the critical task of propelling federal technology commercialization opportunities.

The daily research and development that takes place throughout Midwest and Southeast regional laboratories have produced some of the most successful market innovations of our time. By combining forces for this year’s meeting, the Midwest and Southeast Regions are more prepared than ever to work together to provide professional development support, skills, and T2 success strategies for all members in attendance.

This year’s meeting location—The Citadel, South Carolina’s premier military college—has a rich history of educating and developing young men and women from across the country to become principled leaders in all walks of life by instilling the core values of The Citadel in a disciplined and intellectually challenging environment.

We hope the spirit of this year’s setting inspires both regions’ attendees to rally around our meeting theme, Retooling Technology Transfer and Commercialization.

Both Regional Coordinators encourage you to make the most of your time here. Don’t be afraid to get outside of your comfort zone to network with your peers and participate in topics such as patent licensing management, fostering lab engagement with state economic development offi ces, and technology commercialization successes.

We look forward to hearing about the relationships you’re building for your lab’s T2 mission and how you’re operating in the contact sport of technology transfer. Here’s to a productive joint meeting. We hope you enjoy the beautiful city of Charleston!

2016 FLC Midwest and Southeast Regional Meeting 3

Submit your water technology success stories and we’ll help boost how your water innovation is addressing global water issues.

The FLC has taken on a new initiative—an annual tech focus that will highlight a specifi c area of technology that addresses public need and supports government-wide, lab-to-market goals. This year’s theme will shine a light on the expertise, capabilities, and technologies related to water from federal laboratories.

To contribute your support of our several “year of water” focus activities, let us promote your laboratory’s water-related success stories! All stories will be featured on a new FLC Tech Focus webpage, and promoted via social media.

Visit federallabs.org/successes to share your lab’s water tech success!
