Introduction

Dear Parents,

We would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to our new and returning gymnasts and parents. The following material regarding the operation of the gym school should be thoroughly reviewed. As stated on your enrollment form, by enrolling your child in an AGA program, you are accepting the terms and conditions contained within this handbook. Please keep this handbook handy for future reference during the year.

In addition to the basic handbook, if you are in a team related program you will also be provided an addendum specific to the program your child is enrolled in; if you do not receive it, please ask for a copy at our front desk.

Welcome To AGA!

Welcome to Adrenaline Gymnastics, where our commitment to you is to provide a healthy and fun environment for your child to develop self-esteem, confidence, and discipline in gymnastics and the world around them.

We believe that gymnastics is a sport different from all others and so it must be approached in a unique and specific way in order to insure success for every athlete. We believe that it is very important for every gymnast to achieve their highest potential, while at the same time having an incredibly positive experience.

The approach we take with our classes is similar to the approach taken by many successful people in their adult lives. Through gymnastics, our athletes discover the link between desire, dedication, direction and the achievement of their dreams; as well as how to cope with potentially not meeting all of their own expectations. At Adrenaline we define success as: “To be the best that you are capable of becoming.” Children need to experience that success because it fosters self-esteem and confidence, both of which are a huge part of the gymnast’s growth.

Our goal is to have the athletes excel as role models throughout their gymnastic careers and in life afterwards. The self-discipline, personal work habits, self-confidence, and peer relationship skills acquired through our program will become your child’s greatest attributes throughout their lives. Our expectations for the gymnasts, both in and out of the gym, are for them to be respectful, courteous, honest and hard working.

As educators whose lives are dedicated to children, we feel there is no other sport that teaches kids better life fundamentals. The large majorities of our athletes are on the Honor Roll in their respective schools, are some of the most physically fit children, and are always role models among their peers in and out of the classroom.

Once again, welcome to Adrenaline Gymnastics! If you have any questions regarding the information contained in this handout, or have a question that you can’t find an answer to, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s coach, the AGA Office Manager, or an AGA owner, and we will do our best to get you an answer!

Why Gymnastics?

Gymnastics provides social interaction, listening, following directions, and problem solving. Mental aspects include the development of self-confidence, self-esteem, concentration, and discipline. Physical aspects include balance, coordination, body awareness, rhythm, muscle tone, agility, hand-eye coordination, power, posture, limb control, and air awareness.

Competitive athletes receive all the above plus goal setting, visualization skills, planning and time management.

AGA’s Philosophy & Mission Statement

Adrenaline Gymnastics Academy is committed to excellence in all areas of gymnastics training and to providing a safe, fun, and challenging atmosphere in which the child athlete can thrive. We pride ourselves on displaying this commitment whether the training is for the beginning tumbler, or for an Elite level athlete.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality gymnastics programs, training, and education aimed at allowing our athletes to reach their own maximum potential.

Our professional staff strives to develop each child's physical and mental capabilities required to reach their objectives through programs designed to teach proper gymnastics skill techniques, and enhance the child’s strength, flexibility, coordination, concentration and self-confidence required for success.

Adrenaline Organization & Contacts

General Program Overview

Adrenaline’s overall gymnastics program is broken down into multiple sub-programs which we have built to ultimately support the gymnast’s ultimate goals in the sport. A general progression chart is available for you to review immediately following the program overviews. AGA’s youth gymnastics program includes:

Preschool

Recreational

XCEL Team (Recreational Competitive)

USAG Junior Olympic Team (Highly Competitive)

International Elite (Ultra Competitive)

In addition, we also have an Adult recreational Gymnastics/Fitness program! If you are interested in the Adult class, please don’t hesitate to contact our front office or check our website for more information!

Preschool Ages 18 months -5 Years

Co-Ed

Non-Competitive

Open Enrollment

1-3 Hours Per Week depending on level and number of classes taken

Monthly based program

Our preschool program is designed to incorporate the earliest aspects of physical fitness and primary development for children starting as young as 18 months old, up to 5 years old. Special consideration is given to parental/caregiver bonding and continues throughout the program, ultimately concluding with the child's ability to separate and enter our next levels of gymnastics training and motor skill development.

Classes provide an overall balance of fun within a structured teaching environment where children begin to accomplish their own goals within the structure of the class. AGA’s preschool classes also help build a strong foundation for your child to develop a sense of athletic achievement, self-esteem, and social skills that will last a lifetime.

Currently, AGA’s co-ed program does not extend beyond the Giants class of the preschool program. If you have a boy enrolled who wishes to continue on with his gymnastics training after our preschool program, please see the front office for boys recreational/competitive gyms that we partner with!

If you have a child enrolled in our preschool program, please see your Preschool parent handbook for additional information regarding specifics on the program and curriculum.

Version 20150226

Recreational Ages 6+

Non-Competitive

Open Enrollment in beginner level, testing occurs into higher levels

1-4 Hours Per Week depending on level and number of classes taken

Monthly based program

AGA's recreational girls gymnastics program is a noncompetitive, achievement orientated, introductory gymnastics program not only aimed at improving the child's gymnastics skills, but also their flexibility, strength and self confidence in a safe and fun environment! The emphasis of our recreational program is the development and enhancement of agility, balance, and strength, while teaching the basics of the sport of gymnastics.

Our recreational program incorporates a fitness workout plus activities that will challenge your child both physically and mentally as they continue their gymnastics journey. Gymnast will be trained on the uneven bars, vault, balance beam, and floor exercise tumbling. In addition, strength, flexibility and coordination will be significant areas of concentration as they are all necessary skills required to safely and effectively learn to perform on all gymnastics equipment.

Although some girls that participate in our recreational program go on to try-out for one of our competitive teams, AGA’s recreational program is not designed to be a step-by-step “must go through every level to get to team” program. This program is meant to be a pure recreational program, and if a recreational child wants to get into the Team program please discuss this matter with one of our program directors or the AGA front office for additional information and guidance.

If you have a child enrolled in our recreational program, please see your Recreational Parent Handbook for additional information regarding specifics on the program and curriculum.

Colorado USAG Xcel Team

Ages 6+

Competitive

Local/In-State League

High-School Gymnastics Prep/Crossover

Non-college bound program

4-13 Hours Per Week depending on level assignment

Year Round program with attendance requirements

AGA’s XCEL teams are designed for the gymnast who wants to compete and experience the great sport of gymnastics, but without the time and financial commitments required by our USAG Junior Olympic competitive program. This program is designed to provide a positive, rewarding, casual competition experience based on individual and team accomplishment, and is a fantastic program for that gymnast whose goal may be to eventually compete in High School gymnastics or has other interests which may prevent the commitment to the Junior Olympic training hours.

If you have a child enrolled in our recreational program, please see the XCEL Team Parent Handbook located on the AGA website, or an AGA Office Staff member, for additional information regarding specifics on the program.

USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Team

Ages 6+

Highly Competitive

Travel League (# of meets dependant on level)

College Prep Program

10-30+ Hours Per Week depending on level assignment

Year Round program with heavy attendance requirements

AGA’s USAG Junior Olympic team program is designed for the gymnast who wants to compete and experience the great sport of gymnastics at some of the highest levels of competition. This program is designed to provide a high-intensity, high-reward, competition experience based on individual and team accomplishment, and is a fantastic program for that gymnast whose goal may be to eventually compete in College level gymnastics.

The Women's Junior Olympic Program at AGA is divided into three major segments; two of which we will summarize here (Compulsory & Optional), and one will be covered in the next section (Elite).

1. The Compulsory Levels are developmental and progressive in nature, each building upon the skills required at the previous level. Every athlete at these levels compete the same USAG developed routines as other athletes competing at the same level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the Colorado USA Gymnastics State Championships.

2. The Optional levels are where the athletes routines are developed and choreographed in a manner unique to that individual gymnast according to the level requirements set forth by the for the optional levels in the USAG code of points. Levels 7, 8, and 9 have difficulty restrictions, while Level 10 has no restrictions in the skill choice. Composition is evaluated at all Optional Levels, except Level 7.

• Level 7 has competitive opportunities up to and including State Championships. • Additional competitive opportunities are provided for Levels 8-10, with the Level 10

competitive season culminating at the Jr. Olympic National Championships, Level 9 at the Eastern or Western Championships and Level 8 at the Regional Championships.

Since its inception in 1993 (as Champion Gymnastics), Adrenaline has produced college level athletes in its Junior Olympic program which have gone on to compete on scholarship for outstanding colleges across the country such as:

Central Michigan University

University Of Florida

Brown University

Southern Utah

Yale

Western Washington

University Of Denver

Texas Women’s

Stanford

Cal State Fullerton

University of Kentucky

Boise State

Ohio State

Southeast Missouri

Arizona State

Utah State

Brigham Young University

USA Gymnastics Elite Program

Ages 6+

Ultra Competitive

95% Travel/National League

National Team Prep

College Prep

By Invitation Only

18-40+ Hours per week depending on level assignment

Year round program

The Elite Program is designed to provide competitive experiences for athletes aspiring to the USA National Team. The National Teams (Senior and Junior) are selected from the USA Championships each year, and those athletes represent the United States in international competitions.

It is very important to understand that becoming an elite level athlete is not for everyone. According to USA Gymnastics, there are currently over 110,000 competitive USAG gymnasts across the United States, of which only approximately 250 or so have qualified at the Elite level (Junior & Senior). The Elite gymnast is a very unique type of athlete, and is one that is very self-driven to be the best at whatever task they take on. Before you make this commitment you must consider the goals, the full scope of the responsibilities, and the time requirement. The goals of all will be achieved only by those who are totally committed and dedicated to this task. Many personal sacrifices will be made by your child, and your entire family, in support of your gymnastics athlete. The choice to train and compete at this level will also create a significant financial burden that must be taken into account.

Additionally, although the personal gratification for the athlete can be significant by qualifying and competing as an Elite, please take into account that this program is not designed to increase every child’s self esteem. There is not necessarily any prestige associated by becoming an Elite; there are no participation ribbons; no local meets to go win ribbons and medals; and it is without a doubt one of the hardest things a competitive gymnast can attempt to do both mentally and physically. It is a ton of hard work, a lot of hours in the gym, a lot of giving up other “social” activities, and a lot of time management issues to insure schoolwork is kept up with - all in the HOPE of one thing – getting the opportunity to win medals for the United States; nothing is guaranteed with becoming an Elite except the work required to try and get there.

Program & Gymnast Progression Overview

Version 20150226

General Rules & Information: Parking

Although we have a big parking lot, it sometimes can get very full. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE FIRE LANE IN FRONT OF THE GYM. We have received numerous complaints from the local fire and police departments and the property management company regarding this issue, and they have informed us that they will be ticketing people parking in the fire lane effective immediately regardless if you are in the car or not.

Parent & Spectator Practice Observation

Unlike many gyms, AGA encourages you to be a spectator during your child’s class and stay for as much of the practice as you desire, but please be sure that any other children who are with you behave properly and do not interrupt our training classes or disturb the other spectators. Bouncing balls, Frisbees, Footballs, Soccer Balls, and any other similar toys are not to be played with in our spectator or reception areas.

We kindly request that all spectators please remain on the bleachers, and/or behind the fenced areas.

With the exception of Parent/Tot (Pre-Kindie) classes, at no time are parents allowed

inside the gated area during practice unless escorted by a gym employee. If an injury occurs, please wait for your coach to give indication that you should

come onto the gymnasium floor.

Parental Role in Their Childs Gymnastics Parents play a huge role in the development of a successful gymnast, and your role is every bit as important as that of the coaches or the gym. It is also every bit as difficult, which is why unlike many gyms we always welcome your presence within the gym. We are a family-oriented program and we want your appropriate input and your support because we want your child to succeed. Here are some examples of what you can do to help your athlete achieve their dreams:

On the physical side it is your job to insure that your athlete gets enough sleep, gets enough of the proper nutritional food and drink, gets to and from the gym on time, and has the proper clothing and equipment.

The emotional side is just as important; it is your role to provide unconditional encouragement and support regardless of whether they made their forward roll in practice or passed to the next level; simply knowing you are there for them can provide a huge boost to their confidence and usually translates well to their performance in the gym.

Please allow the coaches to do what you are paying us to do, and do not try to coach your child. Your comments detract from the coaches’ professional input, give the gymnast another thing to think about, and interfere with the development of the coach/gymnast relationship which is critical for success. If you have concerns over any coaching situation, please do not hesitate to bring it to your child’s coach or a gym owner for discussion.

Parents perform their role at home and outside the gym area; within the gym, the coaches and gym administrators play their roles. It is through performing these tasks that we all show respect for your gymnast and the effort they are putting into the sport. Any more or any less does a disservice to your child and will limit their opportunity for success.

Version 20150226

Food in the spectator stands Food is permitted in the spectator stands, but please, please, please pick up after yourselves and your children in the spectator area. Garbage receptacles are located throughout the spectator area for your convenience.

Lost and Found Please contact the front office if you may have inadvertently left a personal item in our facility. We will try and find your item and place it aside until you can return for it; however, AGA is not responsible for any personal item left in the gym.

Phone Calls at the gym Please do not place non-emergency personal phone calls to your gymnast during practice time as it is a distraction for your athlete and the coaches. In case of any emergency please tell the office staff and they will relay the message or get your child ASAP.

Gym Correspondence & Communications With as large as our gym is, communicating effectively with everyone can sometimes be a challenge; however, we will work very hard to get information to you in a timely manner by:

1. E-Mail to the e-mail address on file 2. Direct Mail to the home address on file (limited) 3. Providing handouts & gym newsletters to the gymnasts after class (limited) 4. Handouts in the Team Gymnast folders (limited)

As you can see above, the majority of gym correspondence will be sent via email as AGA strives to go as “green” as possible.

It is extremely important that our records be kept current. Please advise us regarding any change to your email, physical address, phone number(s), and/or medical information for the gymnast.

Reporting Concerns We are in business to provide your child the highest level of gymnastics training we can. As such, you and your child, and your thoughts, are important to us.

Please come to any of your child’s coaches, a program director, or an owner, if you have a problem or concern. Gossiping and complaining to other parents in the stands cannot solve your problem, nor can we provide answers or assistance if we do not know about them. If you respect us enough to allow us to play a large role in your child’s life as their coaches, please respect us enough to know that we have your child’s best interest at heart and speak with us directly regarding any issues you may have. If we cannot help you we will explain why, and if possible we will work to find another way to solve whatever may be bothering you.

Flash Photography & Video Taping We know everyone likes to video or photograph their child while they are working out, and that is not a problem at all! However, please insure that any flash on either your camera or video camera is turned off at all times while in the gym as it can be very distracting to the athletes who are performing on an apparatus and increase the chance for injury to the athlete.

Program Specific Requirements (i.e. Preschool, Recreational, Team, etc.): Beyond this general handbook, you may download a program specific parent handbook which will outline requirements and details specific to the program your child is enrolled in. These handbooks are available on the member pages section of the AGA website: www.agagym.com

Drop “withdrawal”: Upon receipt of your drop notice, we will attempt to enroll a waitlisted student in your child’s place for the class immediately following your drop date; therefore, please insure you double check your desired drop date prior to submitting your form to the front office. If we enroll a waitlisted child in your place which fills the class to capacity, and you decide not to drop after the fact, your spot in the same class is forfeited and you will be asked to choose a different day/time to re-enroll your child.

Client Initiated Make-Up/Missed class Policy:

Applicability: This policy applies to all AGA pre-school and recreational

students only. Team athletes are addressed in the current version of the AGA Team Handbook.

Allowance: As a courtesy, for a client initiated missed class due to any reason (illness, family event, school, etc), AGA offers one make- up per child, per month. Client initiated makeups are based on a space available basis only, and are not guaranteed.

Availability: AGA will only allow a makeup in classes that do not have full enrollment, or when and where it does not interrupt the safety or the quality of class for those children registered in the desired class time. This is at AGA management’s sole discretion.

Relationship to Tuition: Tuition pays for your child's spot in the class; however tuition is a

monthly charge to retain your child’s on-going enrollment in the class and is not a “per class” charge. For client initiated missed classes, if no class is available or the classes that are available do not match up with your personal schedule, tuition is not prorated.

Requirements: The following requirements apply to client initiated make-ups:

The make-up class must be of the same exact level as your child’s class.

You must call the gym prior to the missed class to qualify for a make-up

Your account balance must be current prior to the missed class

Makeups must be completed within the calendar month of the missed class

Version 20150226

Rescheduling: If a scheduled makeup needs to be rescheduled, you may do so

under the conditions that the new makeup is within one week of the currently scheduled makeup, and all other makeup requirements are satisfied. Second reschedules will not be allowed. Reschedules are also based on class availability.

Gym Closures: Make-ups caused by an AGA initiated closure will be covered

under the AGA Initiated Make-up/Missed Class Policy

Missed Class Refund: Per the AGA refund/proration policy

Proration & Refund Policy:

Applicability: This policy applies to all AGA Students; however, additional

requirements of this policy apply to all AGA Team athlete families, and are addressed in the current version of the AGA Team Handbook.

Policy: AGA does not prorate/refund tuition or fees for any reason other

than the following exceptions:

Initial tuition: If you enroll your child in one of our programs after the start of a

billing cycle, we will pro-rate the tuition due for the remainder of that billing cycle.

Injuries: If your athlete has an injury sustained during an AGA class which

will cause them to miss more than 1 week of practice due to the injury:

Adrenaline will prorate your tuition for the missed time, and will hold that athletes spot in the class for up to 30 days.

In the event the athlete’s injury will prevent them from participating for more than 30 days, please contact our front office staff to discuss possible options.

The athlete must notify the coach during the class that they have been injured, if the injury is such that the coach would be unaware. If the athlete does not notify the coach, the parent must notify the front office via email or in writing no more than 24 hours following the class that their child was injured.

To process an injury proration, AGA requires that a Doctor’s note indicating that the Athlete cannot perform the physical activities required to be submitted to the front office within 72 hours of the occurrence of the injury.

Authorization: Please note that the only AGA personnel authorized to provide a

refund or credit are the AGA Office Manager/Assistant Manager or an AGA Owner. Coaches are not authorized to grant a proration and AGA Mgmt will not honor any proration authorized by any AGA employee other than the above stated personnel.

Drop Off-Pick Up Policy:

Applicability: This policy applies to all AGA Students; however, additional/modified requirements of this policy apply to all AGA Team athlete families, and are addressed in the current version of the AGA Team Handbook.

Start Time: For the safety of your child and their entire class, if your child is more than 10 minutes late to class they will not be allowed to attend for the day. The first 10 minutes of class is an essential warm up period and a student risks injury if he/she does not warm up properly. In addition, our instructors cannot take away from the rest of the class to warm a child up individually.

Pick Up: If an issue arises where you may be late to pick up your child,

please call the front desk to let us know as soon as possible. The gym phone number is 303-843-0711.

Location: We do not allow children to leave the facility at any time until picked up by a parent/guardian – therefore you MUST come inside to pick them up. Simply driving up outside and waiting for

them to come out to the car is not sufficient. Additionally, PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE FIRE LANE OUTSIDE THE GYM AT ANY TIME.

Late Pick Up: If a child is not picked up by class ending time, and there has

been no contact from the parent/guardian, the staff will follow these procedures:

If parents cannot be contacted after 10 minutes, the staff will call the both the emergency contacts and the parents for another 20 minutes to attempt contact.

If after 30 minutes staff is unable to contact either parent or your designated emergency contact, they will call Child Emergency Services to come and take your child into care until you can be located.

If a parent is late picking their child up, the following penalties apply:

First/Second Occasion: Verbal Reminder

Third Occasion – Barring a verifyable medical emergency, for every minute over 10, a $1.50 per minute fee will be assessed to your account

Fourth Occasion: Termination of membership with no refunds.

Athlete Health Policy:

Health Policy: Please let the front office know before practice, via a phone call, if you think your child might have a problem due to illness, medication, or injury. If your child has had a fever or not felt well over the past 24 hours please do not send them to practice to share their germs with their teammates or coaches. If your child’s physician recommends limitations on their gymnastics, we need a copy of the treatment plan and description of the length of the limitations.

Please do not send a child to class who has these common signs and symptoms of illness:

Thick or discolored discharge/drainage from the nose

Persistent cough or sneezing Fever Sore throat Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea within the

previous 24 hours Headache Earache (disrupts equilibrium and balance) Severe Rash Discharge from the eyes/pink eye Plantar warts or other foot ailments must be treated

and covered completely during treatment.

Illness While At Class: If a child becomes ill while at class, the parents will be contacted and asked to come take the child home. If we are unable to contact the parents, we will call the emergency contact as listed on your child’s registration contact sheet.

Returning To Class: If your child has been prescribed antibiotics, they may return to class 24 hours after the first dosage. Please note that in some cases, AGA management may ask for a Doctor’s note clearing them to return to gymnastics classes.

Emergencies: In the case of an emergency, AGA will take such measures as

deemed necessary by AGA management on site at the time of the emergency. Parents and/or emergency contact will be called immediately. If EMS is necessary, 911 will be called first, the parent/emergency contact second.
