When Emily Dickinson died in 1886, she was unknown outside of a small circle of family and friends. Two women changed that. Author Julie Dobrow chronicles the lives of Mabel Loomis Todd and daughter Millicent, who worked tirelessly to edit and publicize Dickinson’s work — and eventually build her extraordinary literary legacy.
