We will also host Accra Hip-Hop Week, the launch of RFI English broadcasting with a live recording in presence of the whole team coming from Paris, a very rich Paillote Takpekpe (our platform for emerging artists) and much more. Alliance Française Accra is glad to present an exclusive AFD picture exhibition from the book «60 solutions against climate change» by world famous photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand. This event is in relation to the COP21 meeting to be held in Paris, in December 2015, where all countries, including Ghana, will be invited to sign an international agreement to fight climate change. Winning drawings from the “Seed for change – plant an idea to deal with climate change” contest will also be exhibited.

Da Cruz is an emblematic artist of the Parisian scene. He offers an identifiable style, a kind of universal language, meeting naive and primitive worlds adapted to the contemporary urban jungle. It is a way for the artist to evoke vanished civilizations, contrasts between lush and exuberant nature. This residency will result in temporary mural paintings on the walls of Alliance and in other areas of Accra.

Discover or re-discover some of the best Ghanaian hip hop dancers such as Kri-Stars as they compete for the titles of “Best solo hip hop dancer” and “best hip hop dance crew”. They will have to impress the crowd with their best choreographies on Ghanaian hip hop tracks carefully selected by the yoyo tinz resident Dj: DJ Vim Tinz. The best dancers will be rewarded with a cash prize for the winners and a selection of amazing prices!

The Accra Hip hop week closure concert will be the climax of the festival with a main act by the Ewe rapper Edem and surprise guest artists. On that night, the Ghanaian artist from the Volta, will offer a performance that will for no doubt blow your mind. To open the show, the yoyo tinz team has selected several talented artists: A.I., Abladzo Kwame, Kula and Kahaz. Prepare to be amazed by wild flows, crazy rhymes and dope lyrics.

The love of Mamavi is a sensational play that lays bare the life of tenants in a compound house; typical of many African homes. Mamavi, a young and dynamic lady, falls in love with Armah who belongs to another tribe, thereby throwing the whole house into more mayhem. The play, strewn with bits of humour and sarcasm, epitomises the tense tribal and political atmosphere pertaining in Africa and suggests ways sanity can be maintained within a diverse political, cultural and ideological space.

The evening will start with the screening of a movie on the threat of climate change and the impact it has on the Earth and Humanity and will be followed by a discussion with Professor Christopher Gordon, Director of the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies, University of Ghana. We will end the evening with a cocktail and enjoy the exhibition ‘Float your Boat’.Float Your Boat is a unique exhibit that displays creative ways in which plastic waste can be reused. Prestidigitation often seems like an esoteric practice. In reality it is quite possible to approach the magic just for the pleasure of discovery, enrichment of artistic and/ or social practice. That is what Guillaume Vallée will demonstrate during his one hour workshop. All the novice magicians from 10 years old and more are invited to join the French illusionist on Saturday morning.
