Rock-n-Row Adventures has been attracting tubing and camping enthusiast to the El-
dora/Pine Lake area since 1994. Easily found in North Central Iowa at the Junction
of Hwy 175 & the Iowa River, not much more than 2 - 3 hours from any major city
in Iowa. We are the original, largest and most popular tubing resort in the Central Mid West.
The Rock-n-Row Campground & River is a PG-13 Atmosphere with ages ranging from 5
to 75 years. A large percentage of these fun loving people have been with us for a number of
years so we are one big happy family. Some of the high lights of rock-n-row adventures would
include tubing and camping of course, campfire cooking, live rock bands, djs, bikini contests,
volleyball, beer pong, flippie cup, bag toss, frisbee games, bike trails and a state ranked 9-hole
golf course located just up the road two miles. Electrical hook-ups go very fast so make your
reservations early. We run a kids special during the Iowa State Fair. August is a good time
for the kids to go on a tubing adventure, the water is lower and slower allowing the smaller
kids to explore and find the treasures of the river. This weekend also tends to be appealing to
the grandparents as well, they like to party a little too. On average a tubing adventure takes
three to four hours. We shuttle your group up river and you float back down to the Rock-n-
Row campground, there is no catching another bus and you may stay out on the river as long
as you like but you should be back before
night fall. The band will playing from 7-11
p.m. Advance reservation are recommended.

Poised along the new High Trestle Trail, serving as the western gateway to the awe-
inspiring High Trestle Bridge, the City of Madrid is ready to welcome you.
Founded in 1883, Madrid has a history closely tied to the railroads and coal min-
ing industry. Local coal mines brought in workers from around the world, creating a colorful
diversity of residents and business. Local landmarks such as a statue of a coal miner and the
mineshaft theme of the High Trestle Trail Bridge memorialize the significance mines had in
the history of the community. Coal mining was an important local industry from 1910 to
1945 when immigrants came to Madrid to work in the mines. Due to its close proximity (less
than 30 miles) to Des Moines, Ames, Boone and Perry; Madrid has become a quiet bedroom
town rich with services and attractions that serve both residents and visitors.
In addition to the completion of the spectacular High Trestle Bridge — just west of
Madrid on the 26-mile High Trestle Trail — walkers, runners, cyclists and sight seers can
also enjoy the new Johnson Family Trailhead, located in Dalander Park near Highway 17 in
Madrid. Other area attractions include Swede Point Park (county park), which is just two
miles east of the Des Moines River. Swede Point Park offers camping (with electric), hiking,
picnicking and modern restroom facilities, as well access to the river.
In Madrid, many businesses stand ready to entertain and serve guests. Home to many
wonderful restaurants and watering holes, you can be sure to find anything you might be
looking for including ice cream, pizza, home-cooked food, barbeque and plenty of places to
enjoy a cold beer, glass of wine or cocktail with friends and family.
If you’re looking for a place to locate your business or your family, Madrid is a great
place to consider. In addition to being a convenient location close to many major employ-
ers, Madrid provides the benefits of a small town, including an unconsolidated K-12 school
system; a variety of youth and young adult activities; several day-care options; the new High
Trestle Trail; a wide range of housing, services and activities for senior citizens; and many
active community organizations. For information on Madrid, point your browser to www.
madridiowa.com.

event on Saturday night, July 14. Cruise the streets of downtown Des Moines and west
side neighborhoods in the moonlight in this first major night bike ride in Des Moines.
The Moonlight Classic is modeled after wildly successful night rides in Los Angeles, Chi-
cago, Denver, Omaha and other cities throughout the United States. The ride begins and
ends at Principal Park and passes by the State Capitol, Terrace Hill, Roosevelt High School
and Sherman Hill. With a non-competitive format, both casual and serious riders of all ages
and skill levels will find the ride inviting. “Light Your Bike,” “Best Helmet Lights” and “Best
Costume” contests will be held with prizes awarded to all winners. Two “Moon Landings”
will provide refreshments and a rest stop along the 10-mile route. A live band, Infusion, will
perform at an outdoor after-ride party at Mullets near Principal Park.
The Moonlight Classic promises to be a unique new fundraiser for Orchard Place and an
exciting event for our community. For more information, go to www.moonlightclassicdsm.
