T O L A N D O N T H E M O O N !
At the Cordova campus— To Mars and Beyond VBS, your students will enjoy an
interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time as they explore where God’s pow-
er can take them. They will become Voyagers and discover how to serve God and
God’s mission for their lives.
During their week at Advent VBS, Voyagers rotate with their Space Mission Team
through the Bible Story Station, Craft Station, Recreation, Snack Station, Music
and Science Stations. Interactive Bible lessons reveal Power Launcher (key learn-
ings) to equip them for an active life with God. Your Voyagers will also discover
our Vector Verse (Bible memory verse), Ephesians 3:20 – Glory to God, who is
able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work with-
in us!
Students will expand on their discoveries by making their own art projects at the
Craft Station, singing new songs at the Music Station, exploring the wonders of
creation at the Science Station, playing games at the Recreation Station, and en-
joying a light supper at the Snack Station.
In an exciting addition, Middle School Voyagers will be able to choose their VBS
Experience! We will be offering five different tracks for Monday-Wednesday
nights. Each Middle School Voyager will select a track on June 2nd
that they will
enjoy for the next three nights of VBS. The tracks to choose from are Mission
Team, Drama Team, Animal Care, Woodworking, and Serve at VBS. In this way,
we hope to see Middle Schoolers realize the potential of serving in their God-
given gifts and desires.
On Thursday, our Voyagers will have the opportunity to participate in our VBS
mission project, Numana and help package over 20,000 food bags that will be
delivered to a children’s orphanage through International Mission of Hope Haiti.
“Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by His power at work within us.”

Advent doesn’t believe our children are the next generation of the church; we don’t believe they are Jesus fol-lowers in-waiting. We believe they are the church right now! So we place an emphasis on ministry for and by children and teenagers by having them gather to connect with each other and Christ. We have plenty of fun and vetted, trusted, and enthusi-astic staff and volunteers in various settings. Children and teenagers get together in authentic community to
What about my children? discuss real truths, to change their lives and the world bit by bit. You can find out more about Advent Children’s Ministry by contacting Kimberly Munafo and Advent’s Youth Ministry by contacting Greg Aydt.

“I like to think that in the history of
Shelby County, April 7th, 2019 was just a
little bit brighter, a little bit better
because several dozen students and
adults from Advent Youth Ministry
served with the love of Christ. In early
April, AYM gathered for our
annual Disciple Now weekend event.
We gathered to worship and learn and
discuss, and then we scattered to build
and care and serve with compassion.
Our 6th-12th graders were an
inspiring force of love and eagerness
throughout the weekend as they put on
display the incredible nature of the
kingdom of God. Thank you to the
thirty-two adults that had a direct hand
in volunteering over the weekend.
Because of their leadership and the
compassion of Advent’s students, Shelby
County has been transformed just a little
bit more by the love of Christ.”
Disciple Now Weekend
Sermons are better as dialogues than monologues. In an
attempt to continue that sermon conversation throughout
the week, we hosted four Facebook Live discussions
attached to our Fret Series. Pastor Joe and Greg
responded to questions that were submitted by people as
they listened to our sermons on worry. Both live and
recorded viewers impressed us as they engaged with the
conversation. We are happy with the way these Facebook
Live events continued the conversation each week, and
we look forward to finding even more ways to
do this in the future.
