The PDC series are quality medical image displays with high contrast LCDs for common
medical treatment applications such as endoscope, CT diagnosis, X-ray and PACS. The
PDC series terminals are designed with TFT active matrix LCD hard coated, anti-glare
displays. They support resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 and 16.7 M colors. The series
includes displays having digital DVI input and analog VGA input ports. PDC Medical

are very easy to integrate into an existing ICU environment. The touchscreen provides a friendly and easy-to-use interface for medical personnel,

SolutionShin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital undertook a major transition to digitalize its medical diagnostic and treatment equipment in order to
provide the best and most efficient care for its patients. As part of the project planning, they identified key requirements for their system:
Panel PCs mounted on nursing carts needed to be jolt resistant and reliable.Systems had to be fanless and operate noiselessly so as not to disturb the patients.They needed to be robustly designed. Casings had to withstand bumps and collisions.They also had to be water proof with anti-corrosive design to hold up to constant use and disinfection.There should be a good availability of systems, with first class replacement and maintenance programs in place.
SystemOnce the planning had been done, Shin Kong Hospital selected Advantechs POC-S175 to complete the project. POC-S175 delivers a large 17
monitor in a slim design, which is IPX1-certified water resistant, and IP65-certified dust-tight, with sealed connectors, to hold up against constant
use and cleaning. It is fanless with low audible noise allowing it to be operated next to a patients bedside without causing disturbance. Wireless
support and a battery pack met the hospitals needs for mobility, and the rugged unit is shock resistant to 20 Gs. The reliability of the system is
complemented by its support options from Advantech.
The hospital on-site system contained case history on legacy mainframes. This data was accessible by POC-S175 via a WLAN connection. The
system was built with a 1 GB anti-seismic hard drive to withstand shocks and crashes. The fanless PCs had special material designed in the
casings to reduce impact damage and to improve resistance to alcohol and other external disinfectants. Advantech working together with Cisco,
helped provide Shin Kong Hospital a seamless and stable WLAN configuration with assured signal integrity.

Advantechs Patient Infotainment Terminal (PIT) was selected to provide ameans to enhance medical treatment, minimize errors, positively identify medical staff and their patients, and have access to information. Fromsales, to selection of a software solutions partner, to installation and deployment by GE Healthcare, the systems integrator, Advantech assisted inthe delivery of an all-encompassing system solution. During the Phase III construction, Advantechs PIT terminal was integrated into every in-patientarea, creating a high-tech and modern infrastructure to support advanced medical services in a patient-friendly environment. Over 450 systemshave already been installed at the hospital, offering a wide variety of TV channels, broadband internet access, medical-related videos and hospitalinformation to deluxe private suites, deluxe private rooms, private rooms, semi-private single rooms, the general ward and the pediatric ward. Thesame system will be installed in the ICU at a later date. VOIP phone is available in most areas except for the general ward. With the PITs SIM cardreader being an effective identification tool, the hospital hopes that the systems act as the springboard for a future of extensively computerized
access to information and patient records.
SystemAdvantech Patient Infotainment Terminal (PIT) is an Intel-based 17, fanless touchscreen PC. It is mounted next to a patients bedside using75/100mm VESA standard mounting holes. PIT products have an IP65-certified, rubber-sealed front panel, an IPX1 drip-proof rating, and carryUL60601-1/EN60601-1 medical certifications. PIT products feature a 5-wire resistive touchscreen panel (30 million touches), smart card readerand microphone. The smart card reader can identify hospital personnel. High-resolution displays enable the viewing of X-ray images and otherinformation right at the patients bedside. PIT products are internet-ready with the capacity of delivering a wide variety of health-related information(in the form of health-related articles and high-quality videos), multimedia entertainment and communication options to patients, as well as betteringmedical services. During the new phase renovation, hospital planners installed the PIT system with a full set of accessories, including a handset,remote control, earphone and keyboard.
