Modifying Reports

15

I need a report to show unscheduled treatment totals. Where can I get this?

Let’s go see!

16

Scenario #1

9

• Many reports are limited to 500 rows by default. The message indicates the data included in the filters would exceed that 500 rows.

• The advantage here is the ability to fine tune your report with a smaller data set more efficiently, and then modifying your row limit after the report has been optimized, which saves both processing power and time for running large reports.

Trimming the Unscheduled Treatment Report

10

Once you select which date you want to include in a Power Report, make sure to use it consistentlyin any custom report variations you create.

19

PRO TIP

Transaction DateDate shown on the ledger and the regular day sheet. If an item were entered today but backdated, this would show the backdated date.

Service DateDate of service for the procedure or charge adjustment that the credit or payment was applied to. If a payment or credit adjustment was entered today and applied to a procedure or charge from a previous date, the previous date would display.

20

Touch Dates in Power Reporting

11

First Visit DateDate of the first completed appointment or posted procedure.(If the appointment or procedure is removed this will not change the date.)

21

Touch Dates in Power Reporting

Created DateDate the action was actually performed or the entry was made. If an item was entered today but backdated, today’s date would display.

Applied DateDate on which the payment or adjustment is actually applied. It does not correspond directly to any other date.

I want my report to show totals just for last month. How do I make that happen?

Let’s go see!

32

Scenario #1 continued…

17

33

Date Filter – Interactive Reports

To share a personal report, open it and then save it as an organization report. Communicate so others can find and open the report and maybe save a version as their own.

This is a great way to make your report available for someone else to run, for example if you’re out on vacation.

34

PRO TIP

18

That’s great, but I’m still not seeing any totals, and there is no “sum” in the Available Fields. So how about those totals?

Let’s go see!

35

Scenario #1 continued…

36

More Ways to Customize

• Every report column has a drop-down, with additional opportunities to sort, filter, and measure your report results.

Page 19: Advanced Power Reporting in Dentrix Ascend · Success for Dentrix Ascend section of the Resource Center. Customer Success specialist Jill Nesbitt posts about broader topics like Paying

19

The database automatically syncs with the reporting system every 15 minutes. The last sync time shows in the report page. Any changes entered into Dentrix Ascend right now will not be visible on the report until the next sync.

37

PRO TIP

I want to see whether patients are taking longer to pay on recare or operative treatment. For which procedures am I really having a problem collecting payment?

Let’s go see!

38

Scenario #2

20

To prevent a large report from reloading every time you make the slightest change, turn off the Auto-Refresh option.

This allows you to make many changes and view the result at your convenience.

39

Auto-Refresh

• "Not Available: spaces etc." is a general message that no data exists for that field.

Example: for an unapplied credit, the Provider name is “not available” because the payment was not applied to any procedure associated with a provider.

Example: for a patient referral, the referral name is “not available” when the referred-by field has been left blank.

Example: a patient’s insurance plan and carrier names are “not available” when the patient has no insurance.

40

Not Available: spaces etc.

21

Access to reports is controlled by user role. Each of the Power Reporting categories is distinct and can be allowed or disallowed.

41

PRO TIP

That’s interesting, but which procedures are giving me the greatest collection problem (opportunity)?

Let’s go see!

Drill-through

Data Visualization

45

A general term that describes any effort to help people understand the significance of data by placing it in a visual context. Patterns, trends, or correlations that might go undetected in text or rows and columns can be exposed and recognized more easily if you can just see it.

46

Data Visualization

24

47

Data Visualization

• Analysis and Builder report types support data visualization.

• The most useful visualization is the one that helps you understand, or answers a question.

Let’s go see!

25

Icons tell a story.

Default reports have no additional icon.

My custom reports have a single person icon.

Organization custom reports have a group icon.

49

PRO TIP

I need a report that shows us which codes are really our bread and butter. How can I get that?

51

Production by Procedure Code

The great thing about using a relative date like “Previous 12 Months” is that it’s always ready to run from the date you open the report—no need to reset the dates every time.
