ADVANCED DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING (COMMON TO CONTROL SYSTEMS, POWER ELECTRONICS AND

ELECTRIC DRIVES) Time: 3hours Max.Marks:60

- - - 1.a) Realize the following system using Ladder structure realization.

b) Discuss the computational complexity and hardware requirement of digital filter

structures.

2.a) Explain the necessity of approximations in the design of an IIR filter. b) Design a first order, unit Band width 3dB digital Butterworth Filter using Bilinear Transformation.

3. An FIR low pass filter is to be designed with the following desired frequency

response:

resulting in the process of quantization. b) Write about Limit cycle oscillations. 7.a) Discuss the estimation of power spectra of given signal using periodogram and

what are its limitations. b) Find the Autocorrelation and Power spectral density of the signal

x(t)=K.Cos(2πfct+Ф), where K and fc are constants and Ф is a uniform random variable (-π, π).

8.a) Compare parametric and Non-parametric methods of power spectrum estimation.

b) Discuss in detail, how Welch improved the spectral characteristics of a signal compared to Bartlett method.
