Jubilee Year
of Mercy
Today Luke, evangelist and by tradition artist, sends us forth from this Jubilee Year of Mercy with an unforgettable portrait of Christ the King. The setting for Jesus’ “royal portrait” is the cross. From this “throne,” the crucified
“crown prince” welcomes by “executive pardon” the kingdom of mercy’s first citizen, a fellow criminal. The “Good Thief” requests neither deliverance nor salvation, or even forgiveness: “Remember me when . . .” (Luke 23:42). “Today you will be with me,” King Jesus promises, “in paradise.” (23:43). Paradise, even for non-believers, is an image of creation contentedly in harmony with self, fellow creatures, and Creator. Today, we “good thieves” beg Jesus to remember us. We promise to remember that, although Jesus’ kingdom will be fulfilled only when Jesus’ returns, that kingdom begins today in the paradise that will flower from this Jubilee Year of Mercy. We disciples, having been embraced unconditionally and undeservedly by Jesus’ mercy, must now go forth to embrace all others, unconditionally, with that same unfailing mercy.

FUNERAL PLANNING
If anyone is interested in planning your own funeral, please notify the church office (859-734-4270) or Pat Logsdon (859-748-6166).
We will have a workshop and follow the “Catholic Funeral” guidelines. You can pick your readings and music and consider any special things you might want in your “end of life” celebration!
A copy of this plan will go on file in the parish office. When your time comes to walk happily to Jesus, your family will be able to concentrate on your love and memory and not on the mechanics of your funeral! This is a truly generous gift for each of us to give our families! We will schedule sessions that suit each of you. Be sure to tell us your best day or your best time of day.
God bless each of you! Pat Logsdon
Saint Nicholas
Celebration
We will celebrate the Feast of Saint Nicholas on Sunday, December 4th.
The children can leave their shoe in the Saint Nicholas Chapel
during Formation class and see what Saint Nicholas
leaves for them after class.
Thank You

SERVICE COMMITTEE
Rosa Browning, Chairperson
The Christmas Giving Tree gift tags for the Harrodsburg Nursing Home and The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore will be available in the foyer starting Saturday, November 19.
The tags for the Veterans Center will be $5.00 each. All of the Harrodsburg Nursing Home residents will receive body lotion and a fleece throw. You will have the opportunity to purchase a fleece throw and body lotion for $10.00 in the foyer on the weekends of November 19 & 20 and November 25 & 26.
This weekend, on the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe, we give praise and thanks to God for our many blessings. This is so appropriate as we approach the national holiday, our annual feast of Thanksgiving. This holiday also reminds us that the holy season of Advent is upon us next weekend. So we celebrate the start of the holiday season, both in the life of our Church and in our civic life.
What a festive Christmas Bazaar we enjoyed as we prepare to launch the holiday season! I know you join with me in thanking the coordinators of the Christmas Bazaar—Darlene Holt, Pat Isaman, Warren Jackson—and the entire Bazaar Committee, as well as the many, many people who helped, both in our parish and beyond! We deeply appreciate such dedicated and faithful service in building our parish stewardship and our parish outreach, too! We can be sure that the Christian Life Center appreciates our contribution from our Bazaar proceeds, part of our Corporal Works of Mercy, to be sure. How appropriate on this Sunday as we conclude the Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy. Kudos to all!!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Now and forever!
Father Al
After several weeks of instruction, faith sharing, and worship the following people take their first step toward initiation and full communion with the Catholic Church by participating in the Rite of Welcoming and of Acceptance at Saint Andrew on November 20.
Rite of Welcoming Sarah Carey, Loren Eppinghoff,
Matthew Fish, and Vicki Noffsinger
Rite of Acceptance Leon Adkins, Julene Click,
Amy Crowe, and Jaime Michel
Our faith community here at St. Andrew welcomes them and supports them
on their journey.
Clarification about the Proceeds
from the Christmas Bazaar
Bazaar Committee
In a recent Harrodsburg Herald interview with the Bazaar Committee, it was explained to the reporter that part of the proceeds would benefit the Christian Life Center. However in the published article, it was stated that "...proceeds go to the Christian Life Center."
In accordance with a decision made on June 28, 2016 by the Parish Pastoral Council, the Finance Council, and Bazaar Committee Members, 10% of proceeds will be given to the Christian Life Center, 25% to Religious Formation, 5% to the Youth Group, and 60% to pay the additional principle of the Saint Andrew Church building fund.
