anything that are related to this project work and their advise, which is the most needed for

this project such aspects like Internet, books, computers, and etc.

They also supported me and encouraged me to complete this task so that I will not

procrastinate in doing it. Then I would like to thank my teacher ,Ms Ng Wan Kee for guiding

me and my friends throughout this project.

We had some difficulties in doing this task, but she taught us patiently until we knew

what to do. She tried and tried to teach us until we understand what we supposed to do with

    the project work.

Last but not least, my friends who were doing this project with me and sharing our

ideas. They were helpful that when we combined and discussed together, we had this task

    done.

A price index(plural: price indices or price indexes) is a normalized average (typically a

weightedaverage) of prices for a given class of goods or services in a given region, during a

given interval of time. It is a statistic designed to help to compare how these prices, taken as a

whole, differ between time periods or geographical locations. Price indices have several

potential uses. For particularly broad indices, the index can be said to measure the economy'sprice level or a cost of living. More narrow price indices can help producers with business

plans and pricing. Sometimes, they can be useful in helping to guide investment.

    HISTORY OF EARLY PRICE INDEX

No clear consensus has emerged on who created the first price index. The earliest reported

research in this area came from Welshman Rice Vaughan who examined price level change. Vaughan compared labor statutes from his own time to similar statutes dating back to

Edward III. These statutes set wages for certain tasks and provided a good record of the

    change in wage levels.

Vaughan reasoned that the market for basic labor did not fluctuate much with time and that abasic laborers salary would probably buy the same amount of goods in different time periods,

so that a labourers salary acted as a basket of goods. Vaughan's analysis indicated that price

levels in England had risen six to eightfold over the preceding century.

While Vaughan can be considered a forerunner of price index research, his analysis did not

actually involve calculating an index. In 1707 Englishman William Fleetwood created

perhaps the first true price index.

An Oxford student asked Fleetwood to help show how prices had changed. The student stood

to lose his fellowship since a fifteenth century stipulation barred students with annual

incomes over five pounds from receiving a fellowship.

An index number expressing the level of a group of commodity prices relative tothe level of the prices of the same commodities during an arbitrarily chosen baseperiod and used to indicate changes in the level of prices from one period toanother

    ii)Weightage

The assignment of a quota (as of members of a legislature) to a particularsegment of the population as a special favour or concession in a proportion abovethat allowable on a strictly numerical basis

    d) Conclusion : I hereby conclude that the average monthly expenditure of my

family is not that good because the data shows that the amount of money wasted by my

family is quite high. So based on this data, I can avoid myself to be a spendthrift.

    b) The television that I had choose is the Panasonic Vierra( 40 inch). It is because it is

cheap than the other Samsung television. Not only that, the screening quality of this

television is quite good. Based on the view, the television has a HD quality screening and

also internal boosting speakers. Last but not least, this television has a slim and

elegance look than the other television. Im very sure that this television is the slimmest

    television in the market.

    c) I think Giant should deserve the award because based on the value of mean and also

the value of standard deviation it is quite considerate. Not only is that, based on the

current economics the people in the world craving for quality items in a cheap price. So,Giant has provide a sale of quality products in a cheap and reasonable price. As the

panel of the award, Giant is the suitable and the deserved winner.

    Further research

Definition of 'Inflation'The rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is

rising, and, subsequently, purchasing power is falling. Central banks

attempt to stop severe inflation, along with severe deflation, in an

attempt to keep the excessive growth of prices to a minimum.

    MALAYSIA INFLATION RATE

The inflation rate in Malaysia was recorded at 1.70 percent in April of 2013. InflationRate in Malaysia is reported by the Department of Statistics Malaysia. Historically, from 1973 until 2013, Malaysia Inflation Rate averaged 3.74 Percent reaching an alltime high of 23.90 Percent in March of 1974 and a record low of -2.40 Percent in Julyof 2009. In Malaysia, the most important categories in the consumer price index areFood and non-alcoholic beverages (30 percent of total weight) and Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (23 percent of total weight).
