ScholarshipProgram

Founded by the German Bishop’s Conference, the Albertus Magnus Scholarship Program is dedicated to the exchange and dialogue between local churches, in accordance with the vision of the Se-cond Vatican Council.

The Institute for Global Church and Mission (IWM) at the Sankt Georgen Graduate School of Philosophy and Theology in Frankfurt (Germany) in cooperation with the Catholic Academic Exch-ange Service (KAAD) are responsible for the con-tent and organization of the program.

Candidates for the program must

‣ be able to demonstrate excellent academic achievement (e.g. grades, exam scores),

‣ have an elementary knowledge of German,

‣ have a recommendation by the candidate‘s local church authority,

‣ declare their willingness to return to their local churches.

An applicant should submit a request for admissi-on to the Institute of Missiology Missio e.V. (MWI) by 31 March of the academic year preceeding admission.

Please inform yourself about eligibility require-ments and application procedures by the homepage of the MWI or the Albertus Magnus Scholarship Program.

A direct application at the scholarship program is not possible.

Whoiseligible? Whatdoesthe Programoffer?

‣ A monthly stipend of 1.100 € (minus any personal contributions or donations)

‣ If necessary a german language course for the duration of six months

‣ An introductory course to the social and religious situation in Germany

‣ Regular meetings in student groups, which are led by tutors

‣ Annual meeting of all scholarship recipients

‣ Multi-day educational events

‣ A pilgrimage / study excursion to Rome

‣ Academic advisory and guidance services by an academic body

‣ Possibilities for spiritual renewal and recreation

The duration of the scholarship (without the lan-guage course) is

‣ 2 years for a licentiate,

‣ 3 years for doctoral studies.

In exceptional cases, an extension of the term is possible.

The scholarship program is for students from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe who wish to undertake postgraduate studies at a University or Catholic College in Germany.

The aim of their stay in Germany is to acquire a licentiate or a doctorate in theology, philosophy, canon law or related fields.
