ADDENDUM #1 – 2015 STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT 4/22/2015

PROJECT #2015-01,02 The purpose of this addendum to the 2015 Street Reconstruction Project is to ADD rehabilitation of bituminous trails within the street reconstruction area. This addendum shall be attached to the Contract Documents and included as part of said Contract Documents. Items herin shall take precedence over any clauses which they modify in the Contract Documents or portions of drawings which they modify or supplement.

SCHEDULE OF PRICES CHANGES

PART 3 – DEMOLITION AND REMOVALS 1. ADD the following Pay Item:

PROJECT MANUAL CHANGES

The project manual has been revised to reflect the following changes: 1. Special Provisions to the Standard Street Specifications

Replace Section 7.B (Reclamation of Bituminous Pavement) with the following: B. Reclamation of Bituminous Pavement

The Contractor shall reclaim existing bituminous and Class 5 in Phases 1-4 in compliance with MNDOT 2215, Full Depth Reclamation (FDR). Payment for Reclaim 5”

of Bituminous Pavement and Class 5, or Reclaim Bituminous Trail, shall be at the contract unit price per Square Yard and shall include the tolerancing and compacting of the reclaimed aggregate base. After tolerancing and compacting have been completed, the aggregate material shall be proof rolled prior to the bituminous placement. The City’s representative must be present for all proof rolling. Any areas not meeting the City’s standard shall be repaired with contract quantities. Reclaimed material used for Class 5 base shall meet MNDOT 3135. Reclamation Depths: Streets: 5” Trails: 4” (based upon site limitations, 3” may be acceptable)

Add the following Section 24 (Bituminous Trail Maintenance):

24. BITUMINOUS TRAIL RECONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE

Bituminous trails within the street reconstruction area shall be reconstructed and/or maintained as identified on the Contract Documents or at the direction of the Owner. Typical trails in this project are 8’ wide. Other surface improvements, such as restoration and pedestrian ramps, will be paid for at the contract unit price for those items. Typically, new trail or seal coat installation will be installed through driveways, however, concrete driveways shall remain as-is, unless directed otherwise by the Owner. The Contractor shall protect concrete driveways and pedestrian ramps during reconstruction or seal coat installation. Damage or tracking bituminous materials onto concrete driveways is not acceptable and will be repaired at the Contractor’s expense. The Contractor is responsible for placing barricades, cones, tape, or signs to warn trail users that trails are closed for maintenance, including duration.

A. Trail reconstruction shall include reclamation of the existing trail and installation of

new trail pavement. Reference previous sections of this specification for guidance.

B. Trail maintenance shall include bituminous patching, crack sealing, and seal coating shall include patching areas of existing trail as identified by the Owner, sealing all existing cracks, and seal coat installation. Trails shall be swept to remove all dirt and debris prior to completing any maintenance.

1) Patch Bituminous Trail

Reference previous sections of this specification for guidance.

2) Crack Seal Bituminous Trail Fill all cracks with hot rubberized crack filler, per MNDOT 3723. Payment for Crack Seal Bituminous Trail shall be at the contract unit price of Linear Foot and includes all equipment, materials and labor.

3) Seal Coat Bituminous Trail Apply two (2) separate coats of MasterSeal Concentrate as manufactured by SealMaster, Inc., or Owner approved equal. Each coat shall contain a minimum of 4 lbs. silica sand per gallon of sealer. Sealer shall be modified with Top Tuff at a rate of 2%. Coverage rate of sealer for two (2) coats shall be at the rate of 0.23 gallons/square yard. Payment for Seal Coat Bituminous Trail shall be at the

contract unit price of Square Yard and includes all equipment, materials and labor. The Contractor shall protect all surfaces adjacent to the trail receiving seal coat including, but not limited to, sod/turf, landscaping, pedestrian ramps, and driveways. Seal coat material shall not be installed on concrete driveways that cross bituminous trail.

PLAN SHEETS

1. REPLACE sheet 2 with the revised Sheet 2 attached to this addendum. State of Estimated Quantities updated to reflect revised and added quantities for additional work related to bituminous trails.

2. REPLACE sheet 14 with the revised Sheet 14 attached to this addendum. Location of bituminous trail reconstruction on Elm Road was added.

3. REPLACE sheet 15 with the revised Sheet 15 attached to this addendum. Location of bituminous trail reconstruction on Elm Road was added.

4. REPLACE sheet 21 with the revised Sheet 21 attached to this addendum. Location of bituminous trail maintenance (patch, crack seal, and seal coat) on Polaris Lane was added.

5. REPLACE sheet 23 with the revised Sheet 23 attached to this addendum. Location of bituminous trail reconstruction on 64th Place and 65th Place was added.
