2. The Correct Authority

• They had been baptized into John’s baptism (v. 3).

• They were then baptized “in the name of the Lord Jesus” (v. 5).

• Denominations baptize in the authority of their denomination.

3. The Correct Purpose

• Some teach that baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace; that one is baptized because he is already saved.

• Some teach that baptism is the means by which one becomes a member of their denomination.

• the correct purpose - the remission of sins

• the correct subject - penitent believer

…then you need to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the

remission of your sins!
