Dave’s Tip 27: Colour coding your activities.
Purpose
Some customers prefer to see the colouring of bars based on specific criteria, for example the
location. This function can be accommodated within the web application by the use of colour coded
activity code values. This document provides step by step instructions in enabling this functionality.
Assumptions and Notes
This document assumes the user is working in the EPPM web application and all screenshots are
taken from version 8.1 and higher.
How To
1. From the Administer menu select Enterprise Data and navigate to the Activity Codes
section.
2. From the available activity codes select the code to be colour coded and expand the code
structure to view the code values
3. Select one of the code values and double click the colour cell.

4. From the popup window select the required colour and click OK .
5. Save your changes and assign your activity code values to the relevant activities in the
Activities area.

6. Now modify your view to include the colouring of the activity code by selecting Customize
View then select the Bars tab.
7. Select the <By Activity Code> radio button and your colour coded activity code.

8. select OK and Save the view.

This functionality can be very useful if the customer wishes to colour code the activities based on
the main, or primary, resource responsible for the task and, once applied, allows users to create
graphic reports which are easy to see and use by none Primavera users.
