ACTIVITY: By Faith . . .WHAT YOU NEED:index cards, pen/pencil/markerWHAT YOU DO:Challenge everyone to see what they remember about today’s Bible story. Together, see if your family can come up with one fact about the following people mentioned in the story: Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David. Then write each of those names on an index card. Place the index cards around the room, taping them to a wall or cabinet, and spreading them out as much as possible. Choose one person to read each of the facts below, while everyone else tries to be the first to slap the correct index card.o By faith, this person left his home and went to a place God told him. (Abraham)o By faith, this person built a boat to save his family. (Noah)o By faith, this person defeated a giant. (David)o By faith, this person’s parents hid him for three months after he was born. (Moses)o By faith, this person brought two of every kind of animal into the ark. (Noah)o By faith, this king trusted God to keep him safe. He wrote, “The Lord is my shep-herd. He gives me everything I need.” (David)o By faith, this person believed that God would give him more kids and grandkids than the stars in the sky. (Abraham)o By faith, this person stood before Pharaoh and said, “Let my people go!” (Moses)Talk about the Bible story:o The people in today’s story didn’t know how everything would turn out, but they knew Someone had a greater plan. Who was that Someone? (God)o There are things we can’t see, but we know they’re there—for example, air, the wind, or your heart. How do you know those things are there? (You can breathe air; you can feel the wind; you can feel your heart beat)o How can you get to know Jesus even though you’ve never seen Him? (Read the Bible, talk to someone who’s older and believes in Him)

WHAT YOU NEED:art supplies, such as paper, markers, glue, glitter, magazine pages, etc.

WHAT YOU DO:Either individually or as a family, make a collage or illustration of things (or people) that you’ve never SEEN, but you believe they exist. (For example: other planets/stars, famous landscapes like the Grand Canyon, celebrities, music, etc.) Use any supplies you have on hand. The project can be as fancy or as simple as you choose. The goal is to start a conversation about how it’s possible to believe in something even though you’ve never seen it.

As you work on the art project, use the following questions to guide yourconversation. Share about a couple of things that help you know Jesus and have faith in God, especially during these uncertain times.

Talk about the Bible story:o What’s one thing you’ve never seen but you don’t doubt that it exists (or did exist in the past)? (air, heart/lungs, Mars, Abraham Lincoln)o How do you know that thing or person is real?o Who are some people from the Bible who have had faith in God, even when they didn’t know how things would turn out? (Abraham, Moses, David)o What questions do you have about what it looks like to have faith in Jesus? (Parents, don’t feel like you have to have all the answers to your kid’s questions! No one has ALL the answers. The important thing is that you validate the importance of asking questions and engage your kid in a conversation about faith.
