50 days of Easter Easter is not just a single day. It is so important and powerful, that we celebrate it over 50 days! It is a season. But even more than this, Easter is to be lived every day of our lives. How do you live the joy of the risen Christ in your life? Let us celebrate this season with great joy! The Liturgies of the Three Great Days (the Triduum) - Thank you! The past week allowed our community to live our faith in a deeper way in the liturgies of the Three Great Days: The Mass of the Lord’s Supper with the Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday; the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday; The Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, and Easter Masses on Sunday. Thanks to all for your participation in these liturgies, which made them so faith-filled and prayerful. Many thanks also to those who made these liturgies happen: those who decorated and prepared the church for the celebrations, those who led us in the singing, and those who served our community in the different ministries that are part of these liturgies. Thank you for the Easter lilies The many Easter lilies you see in the church are all from our parishioners. That is beautiful, because their place in the church at Easter time is more than a matter of decoration. It is our way of remembering deceased family members in the light of our Christian faith. The lilies speak of our faith that the deceased are called to share in the victory of life over death that the Risen Christ won for us. That is our hope for them and for ourselves.

Thank you from Father Dan May the joy and peace of the risen Christ be with you all this Easter Season. A special thank-you to all who sent me cards, gifts and chocolates. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated. Baptisms to be celebrated this Sunday Kindly remember these children, parents and families in your prayers: Lila Rose, daughter of Laura Howard & Alexander Cooper Aliyah Ashley, daughter of Anne Dupuy & Andy Léon Olyvier Valori, son of Suzanne Gendron-Knight & Sebastien Larabie Emma Melinda, daughter of Jenna Rees & Stephane Tremblay Philip Xavier, son of Paula Gravelle & Nicholas Weatherdon Brielle Marie, daughter of Marie-Laude Caron & Erich Zappe A warm welcome to visitors and to new parishioners! Welcome to those who want to make their “faith-home” here with us. You may be new to Aylmer, or you may have been ‘away for a while’. Be assured that we appreciate the richness that you bring to our faith community! In acknowledgement and appreciation of what you bring to our community, we welcome your suggestions as to how we could serve you better. Please bring these to our attention! We hope that you will join us throughout this Easter season, as we continue to celebrate with joy the resurrection of our Lord! You are invited to join us for refreshments after Mass on the first and third Sundays of the month – a good opportunity to meet others in our parish community. Your children are welcome to participate in the children’s liturgies during the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses on Sunday mornings – a time when they join with other children to hear the Word of God in a way which they can understand. We would appreciate it if you introduced yourself to one of our hospitality ministers, or to Father Dan. It would also help if you could take the time to fill out a registration form, which you can get from a hospitality minister. The next time you are with us, you can drop off the registration form in the collection basket; give it to one of the hospitality ministers or to Father Dan. Once again, welcome! Adults wanting to be baptized or confirmed Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist are known as the sacraments of initiation. We usually associate these sacraments (which include First Communion) with children. Increasingly in our society, older teenagers and adults are realizing that they have been baptized, but have not celebrated any other sacraments. Or that they have made their First Communion, but not been confirmed. This is quite commonplace today, and provides us with an opportunity to journey with adults who wish to be confirmed and join the community at the Eucharistic table. Together, we prepare for these sacraments in an adult way, respecting the life experience and faith journey of each person. Would you like to be baptized? Would you like to be confirmed? Would you like to journey with other adults who are preparing for

these sacraments? If so, please contact our pastoral associate, Julie Cool, by e-mail ([email protected]) or by leaving a message at the parish office at (819) 684-6926. Let us pray that our parish might be a vibrant baptismal and Eucharistic community! Weekday Masses at St. Mark’s Please note that weekday masses are celebrated Tuesdays to Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. Please note that this Thursday, April 16, Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Get ready for the Irish Ceili Dance – Friday, April 17th – 8:00 p.m. The Share Lent Campaign will end with the Irish Ceili Dance on April 17th. Come to St. Mark’s Hall to enjoy live music, a light lunch and fellowship. Bring your children and learn some Irish Set Dancing with the Comhaltas Celtóirí Éireann of Ottawa. Get your tickets at the entrances of the church, after Mass, at the office (Wednesday to Friday) or call Esperanza at (819 685-0391). Mark your calendars for St. Mark’s Annual Spring Dinner This annual dinner commemorates and celebrates our patron saint whose feast day is April 25th and will be held here at the church on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets: Adults $12; Children 5-12 years $5; Children 4 and under are free. Cash wine bar. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. No ticket sales at door. For tickets call: Pat (819) 684-7798; Marina (819) 684-5903. Many thanks to the CWG for organizing this important annual event.
