Note Check – Students swap notes and review. Holes are filled. Questions posed to class.
Explain/Repeat – Student turns to a neighbor and explains a taught concept and then neighbor repeats what was explained to them. Stump your neighbor – Students pose a question to a neighbor about a class topic. Best questions shared with the entire class.
Think-Pair-Share – Students reflect alone, pair up, share something about the topic with the class.
Organized debates – Students divided on controversial academic topics and debate the merits of each side. Instructor can provide brief readings to construct arguments.
Jigsaw procedure – Give students elements and they are responsible for putting them together in a coherent manner.
Problem-based learning – Provided with a problem, students must determine what they need to solve the problem and how they will get that information.
