Do you need a script? It is the policy at Active Health Portland that you see a
GP when you require a script. It is the duty of care of your GP to ensure their patients are keeping in good health this is why we have this policy in place. When you come in to get a script the GP can ensure that you are having no adverse side effects and that the medication is helping you in the way it should. Please ensure you check on your medication and scripts regularly so that you can make a time to organise a script well ahead of time. This will help to ensure you can see your regular GP for the script that is required.
Complimentary Toiletry Bags PDH is now supplying Complimentary Toilet Bags for all Indigenous Pa-tients who are admitted to hospital.
Volunteers have been making the bags and are asking for Donations of Fabric to continue this project.
The fabric needs to be at least 50cm long and 37cm wide so that the volunteers can sew 1 bag with the one piece of material (the bags need to be long enough to fit in a toothbrush). Donations of any unwant-ed ribbon lengths of around 60cm would be great to thread through to tie up bags also.
All donations can be dropped at the reception desk at Portland District Health. They can pass them on to Sonia Shelton ATSI Workforce Officer to distribute to volunteers.
Bulk Billing at Active Health Portland
At times when you come to Active Health Portland you may be asked to
pay for the service you receive at this clinic.
Bulk Billing is available, however this is not for all
appointments. In general it is always for those that
hold a Health Care Card, or Pension Card, Students
up to the age of 25 and Children under 16. All other
visits will be charged at the discretion of the GP
which you see on the day.
We encourage all patients to return to reception after their appointment
and ensure any charges are settled on the day. If you have forgotten to
see reception before you leave you may receive an account in the mail.
If you have your bank account details registered with Medicare then
when you pay for your account we will send this information straight to
Medicare and they will deposit your refund straight into your bank ac-
count without you having to take it in to them. In most cases the out of
pocket cost is approximately $20 for a GP
appointment.
If you have any financial issues with paying
your account then please let your GP know
so that they are aware. Alternatively you can
talk to Reception and they can follow this up
with the GP that you saw.
