Activating Entitlements
Activation is the process of assigning entitlement quantities to a specific License Host,
company, and user. The process includes generating the license/key.
When entitlements are activated, PLDS generates Activation Records containing the
activation information and License/Key.
Types of activation include:
– Regular activation, where entitlements are activated in order to generate Activation Records
– Upgrade activation, which involves either:
• Activating entitlements that have been marked as upgradeable. When users activate
these entitlements, they can generate License/Key for either the current version or the
old version.
• Activating upgrade entitlements, which are purchased in order to upgrade other existing
entitlements. When users activate these entitlements, they select the entitlements to
upgrade.

CM Activations
The CM product contains a series of cross application dependencies
CM must be activated first before you can activate applications such as:
– Call Center
– One X Agents
– IP Supervisor etc (See product documentation for specific detail)
Users trying to activate a dependent application without having had activated CM will get an
error and will not be allowed to continue
Duplicated Systems or High Availability systems will provide a second host field for the
additional host ID’s
CM 6 and beyond will not contain serial numbers, they will contain MAC addresses, which
will be your Host ID in PLDS
All versions prior to CM 6.0 (except MBT 5.2.1) will need to be managed in RFA as
they are managed today

Go to Activation > Click Activate

• Enter the license activation code
(LAC) for the Product.
• If the LAC is unknown refer to
“Searching for Entitlements” Job
Aid for instructions on searching
for the LAC.
Click Search Entitlements

• Select Entitlement to activate.
• Click Activate

• Enter the License Host or Host ID
of the system the entitlements will
be activated on.
• Note the Host ID will need to be in
the format of xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx as
seen below. The only exception is
Modular Messaging Pre 5.2
systems.
• If this is a new system choose
“Add a license host”
• Or choose from the list of
systems provided .
• Click Next

activated to the selected system.
Entitlements may be split to
multiple systems.

1. Accept the EULA (End User Legal
Agreement)
2. Enter information for the user who
should also receive the activation
detail.
3. Enter additional notes if
necessary.
4. Click Finish.

Save Updated License file
