Dimensions:

•Minimum Height = 3-1/2 inches

•Minimum Length = 5 inches

•Maximum Height = 6-1/8 inches

•Maximum Length = 11-1/2 inches

•Minimum Thickness = 0.009 inch or 10pt.

•Maximum Thickness = 1/4 inch

•Shape: must be rectangular with an Aspect ratio: from 1.3 to 2.5 (length divided by height) or a surcharge will be assessed and automation discounts no longer apply

•Length is the dimension parallel to the address as read.

•Height is the dimension perpendicular to the address as read.

•Standard Mail must weigh less than 16 ounces.

•Bound Printed Matter cannot weigh more than 20 ounces.

•Periodicals cannot weigh more than 20 ounces.

• FlexibilityTurning Ability. The mail piece must fit between two concentric arcs drawn on a horizontal flat surface, one with a radius of 15.72 inches and the other with a radius of 16.72 inches, in one of the following ways:

• Deflection. A flat-size mail piece meeting the AFSM 100 dimensions must be rigid enough so that, when placed flat on a surface to extend unsupported 5 inches off that surface, no part of the edge of the piece that is opposite the bound, folded, or final folded edge (as applicable) deflects more than 1-3/4 inches (if the piece is less than 1/8 inch thick) or more than 2-3/8 inches (if the piece is from 1/8 to 3/4 inch thick).

Flat Sized Mail Pieces

To qualify as a flat your mail-piece must exceed one

of the minimum length or height dimensions or bethicker than ¼ inch.

Quarter-Fold Design

• Two folds perpendicular create a quarter-fold mail piece

• Folds must be at the lead and bottom edge

• Single layer attachment or reply envelope allowed within

• Paper basis weight – 70# min, 80# if over 1oz.

Newsprint requires 55# min which correlates to 60# book weight

Tabs• Up to 1 ounce mailer needs two 1” tabs• Mailers over 1 ounce need two 1.5” tabs• If using perforations or inserts;
