Acronis True Image 2010 has been running but a few days, having not been used for many months. The product was updated from Build 5053 to Build 7046. However, the Nonstop process appears to stop on some storage problem.

The problem started with a WD My Passport Elite USB HDD 320 GB. The device was reformatted to ensure its integrity. The reformatting (NTFS vice the original FAT32) was successful. The original contents, backed up on the C: drive, were transferred back onto the H: partitioned drive.

Acronis True Image 2010 Nonstop Backup was run:Result – a failure due to failure to read from sector 70.864,296 on WD Elite External USB HDD.

During the backup process, with the progress in the window above at 42%, the following Ms Windows pop-up was displayed:

The Acronis True Image 2010 program displayed the following:

Apparently, some problem remains with the integrity of the WD My Passport Elite USB-connected HDD!On attempting to close the Nonstop Backup process and restart the operation, the following error was displayed:

Obviously, the WD external HDD requires more checking to determine the problem with its integrity!

If the issue persists, or you have further questions, or need assistance, please contact Acronis Customer Central.See also Acronis True Image Home 2010: Acronis Services Are Not Started. The problem was not in starting True Image, but rather more likely with the integrity of the WD External USB drive!Closed and reopened True Image 2010, and used the “normal” backup (vice the Nonstop mode).

This backup process also failed for apparently the same reason as for the Nonstop process:

Acronis True Image 2010 NonStop Backup Problem – Storage Error 18 Nov 10

The WD Backup External HDD appears to remain active, despite the “Normal” Backup process having been terminated. Perhaps the original Nonstop Backup program takes precedence, i.e. remains in operation? The disk activity continued even after true Image 2010 was closed!

The ATI Nonstop process was re-initiated automatically, but resulted in a repeat failure:

This is the exact same failure as before!

The WD USB HDD must be replaced since the damage appears to be irreparable!

However, the Disk Doctor test under the Advanced System Care program provided the following error-free result:

A new USB External HDD (Seagate GoFlex Pro STAD500100 500 GB) was installed as drive I:\. True Image 2010 Nonstop Backup was run, with the result as shown below (i.e. an error):

Is the problem with Acronis True Image 2010 or with the original WD My Passport Elite USB HDD?

Another Windows error message was displayed (not sure exactly when, but possibly during the True Image – Build 6,053 - Nonstop Backup process):

An update to Build 7,046 is required – it was downloaded for both Home and Plus Pack!Message sent via Acronis Support Webpage:I have two products registered, True Image 2010 and True Image 2010 Plus Pack, but I do not recall receiving the details of this latter product. Indeed, I do not recall even ordering it!Please advise how I can receive the serial number. Apparently, I need to update to Build 7064, which I have just completed for ATI 2010. Appreciatively, Bruce

From: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/41384138: TI 2010 - Nonstop Backup – “File Level CDP Manager Service stopped” Error Message2009-09-25 Jay SmithHoping someone here can help with a very strange problem I just discovered (using TI 2010 nonstop backup and time explorer). Here is the issue... some IE bookmarks stored as Favorites are randomly disappearing.  One hour they are there, and the next they are gone. Here is a screenshot of Time Explorer.  Between 7:00pm this eve and now, something happened to the CNN and 9News shortcuts.  Funny thing, no one was on the computer.

Any suggetions?  I have had TI 2010 for only a few days, but this behavior coincides with this.  I am going to turn off non-stop backup and see if anything changes. Thanks! Are they disappearing from the Time Explorer or from the source location on the drive? In other words, if you start IE and browse your Favorites, are they still there?Have you noticed any non-shortcuts missing?I've found the Time Explorer "status" of files to not be that accurate. They are really missing from Favorites.  I have restored them once already, then they disappeared again (a couple of the same ones, and some new ones too).  I have not noticed any other file changes, but I should check.Hello all,Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us, it's really appreciated. We haven't heard about such situation, so could you please let us investigate it and do the following? Please do the following in order to collect the information:- Download the file;- Run the downloaded fileThe gathered information will be put in adv_report.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.Running AcronisInfo may take up to 5 minutes. Also, attach this screenshot you already collected to your message.

We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.Thank you.__________________ Alexander NikolskyAcronis Customer Central | Acronis Backup SoftwareI submitted a support request, and haven't heard back yet. I checked the True Image log file, and can see where my favorite was deleted (example cnn.com)000533472719: tid=0x00001548>Process changed file: F:\My Documents\Favorites\News\CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News.url :: OBJECT_CHANGED | OBJECT_OVERWRITTEN000533472734: tid=0x00001548>Process deleted file: F:\My Documents\Favorites\News\CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News.url :: OBJECT_DELETED | OBJECT_OVERWRITTEN :: LAST_ACTIVEIt seems to have happened right after I visited the site.I can't believe a backup product could/would actually delete a file... Needless to say, turned this "feature" off until I hear back from Acronis.I'm having the same issues see4615: Non stop backup losing internet bookmarks in IE8Same problem with IE7 and Vista Home Premium when Acronis 2010 is running in 'non-stop backup'. I also cannot add to Favorites: something like 'check the Properties tag' and the shortcut disappears. So far no evidence for other files being corrupted. But I have used Windows 'Restore' to a time just before installation of Acronis. Should I uninstall Acronis ?Make your favorites folder Read-Only and they stop disappearing, until there is a fix. Seems to be the favicons causing the problem.I have the same problem and cannot fid an update. I am from Germany and I have Vista Home Premium. I stopped "non-stop backup". I also change my browser to Firefox without any problems with the favorites. I hope there is a fix soon. I started using Acronis Nonstop Backup in Acronis True Image Home 2010 on 11-03-09, and as soon as I opened up Internet Explorer 8.0 in Windows 7, many of my Favorites icons started disappearing or otherwise getting trashed as I clicked on them. It didn't matter whether I used the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Internet Explorer 8, Acronis Nonstop Backup started trashing the Favorites folder. Geez, this makes me afraid to use any portion of Acronis True Image Home 2010. What a disappointment.Note to self: Add this Acronis problem to the Intel TRIM solid state drive trashing problem and Adobe Flash Player fiasco under the Windows 7 platform. Makes me want to go back to my reliable Windows 2000 computer, except I threw it away yesterday morning. The issue with IE favorites disappearing is (supposedly) fixed in the latest build. No, it's NOT fixed. I upgraded to 2010 yesterday and left TI to run the first NonStop backup overnight. This morning all the favorites have been deleted. Fortunately I had a non-TI backup.Frankly, this is both unacceptable and incompetent - the thread started 3 month ago, Frode indicated 5 weeks ago that it had (supposedly) been fixed, Acronis have not commented and are still happily selling broken software, and our data is at risk!OK, rant over... MarshallBecause I received no response either through the forum or to the support request I lodged with Acronis, I simply stopped using Nonstop Backup. The build I was and am using is 6053, the one in which the problem was supposed to be fixed. Coincidently, I have just had a reply from TechSupport asking for further details and a log. I will try it again in the near future and will post what happens.2010-02-09 Hello Marshall and Philip,Marshall, thank you very much for the detailed feedback! Yes, I can agree that this is not good practice to test some fixes on the critical computer. In this case I may recommend you to check the functionality on some other PC, just to be absolutely sure that feature works.I can confirm that the issue with Internet Explorer Favorites folder has been fixed. And we have not received any confirmation that it persists in 6053 build. But please check it on other PC anyway, since this is most important to leave this PC without issues. Philip, I would really appreciate if you check the issue with the new build installed on your PC and share your feedback with us.Thank you for your cooperation! We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.Thank you.

The Acronis True Image 2010 Nonstop Backup problem may not yet be resolved, since this error message was displayed after Nonstop was restarted (following a system restart after the update to build 7046 from 5034):

The True Image application again showed the Nonstop process had stopped with an error message:

On closing and reopening True Image, and selecting Nonstop Backup, the following error message was displayed:

10146: True Image Home 2010 v7046 BSODBecause of some problems with Windows backup on my USB-connected WD My Passport Elite HDD, I have recently reloaded my ATI Home 2010 on my HP dv9829us laptop under Vista x64. I had to update from Build 5033 to Build 7046. I tried the Nonstop Backup on the WD USB HDD, but it failed, allegedly because of some bad sectors on the HDD. I have tried to use my USB external newly acquired Seagate Free Agent GoFlex Pro 500 GB HDD (to replace the possibly damaged WD My Passport one) as the repository for a Nonstop Backup. Regrettably, the process has failed each time, with an "error while retrieving storage information". I have tried some of the "solutions" suggested in some of the FAQs, but without success. Having read through the entries in this thread, I am somewhat dismayed, although I acknowledge that the systems are Win 7 (not Win Vista, as is running on my HP dv9820us laptop) based! I am attaching an MS Word document which provides my best attempt to capture the essence of my unpleasant experience. I will be very grateful for any help which can be offered to resolve this difficult situation (no backup for many days). Appreciatively, Bruce
