What is the ACI ACRIS Semantic Model

• It represents the Airport community common knowledge

• It comprises of ideas (business concepts) and connections between the ideas

• It is a collection of “mind map” of people that work in the Airport

• Common knowledge enables meaningful communications through shared meaning

• Common knowledge is the basis of information and data standards

• Information services require information standards based on common knowledge

Why do we need the ACI ACRIS Semantic Model

• The Airport community wants to collaborate to deliver better business services

• The Airport community wants to de-risk migration of enterprise applications

• The Airport community wants to share quality information for optimal business decisions

• The Airport community need to identify / plan a portfolio of information services in a consistent way

• The Airport community requires a firm basis for evolving its information services portfolio

• There is proliferation of information standards within and outside the Airport community based on diverse vocabularies that are not based on an integrated view of the airport business.

Current Applications

Example: Passenger Metadata Harmonization

• In the airport, multiple stakeholders hold different views of the passenger

• Stakeholders include the Airlines, Airport, Borders Agencies, Customs Agencies and Law Enforcement Agencies.

• Each stakeholder is supported by different standards organisation with information standards based on different semantic models

• To serve the Passenger better, we need to harmonise these different views using the ACI ACRIS semantic model.
