Achilles and Patroclus

The Death of Sarpedon: Sarpedon was a Lycian prince, son of Zeus [Helen was the daughter of

Zeus (swan) and Leda if you recall], and was killed by Patroklos, best friend of Achilles. Here

his body is being lifted by both Sleep (on left, Hypnos) and Death (Thanatos, on right).

On the front Hermes can also be seen (note winged hat and staff).

The reverse shows an arming scene.
