We know that great teachers want to

continue to learn and grow, and at

    Achievement First they are consistently

    supported, challenged and inspired to

take their crat to the next level.

I started teaching because I saw in

When I came to observe the morning circle

at Amistad Academy Middle School, I saw

the teachers stepping out and recognizing

students. The school had a powerul and

positive sense o community. I saw that the

school was the perect match or what I

wanted to happen or kids, and I really

wanted to be a part o it.

Sue graduated rom Wheelock College with a

B.A. in education. Ater graduation, she

ed to teach in a school that is very cons

    on high expectations or studentsboth

in their academic and character skills

    where these expectations are common

held among teachers, school leaders a

    parents.

Your teammates on your grade-level team

are always there or you, on a good day or

a bad day. It is really a team and amily.

    Grade-Level Teams

    Network-Wide Professional Development

    Network-Wide Proessional

    Development Days at Achievement

First have been the most valuable

    learning and development support

or me because we learn dierent

ways to teach that we can start to

use in the classroom the very next

    day. - DERRICK

    Friday Learning and Development

is a time or the whole school to step

back and reect. I really value having

the time built into the schedule each

week. It lets me know that Achieve-

    ment First recognizes the importance

    o constant learning and reection

or teachers as key levers to studentachievement.

    - JABARI

The teams are a built-in support system or

teachers. They meet weekly to share best

    practices and problem solve challenges.

The grade-level chair guides the team

toward its overall culture and achievement

    goals.

    On Network-Wide Proessional

    Development Days, all teachers and

leaders in the network come together

or a day o learning in workshops with

    master teachers and experts.

Middle School Content Days are anopportunity or teachers to collaborate,

    share content-specic best practices

and learn new strategies with content

    experts.
