LEED Green Associate Exam Prep

Learn green building practices that can be applied to LEED Rating Systems. Topics are geared toward understanding core concepts of LEED and preparing you for the LEED Green Associate exam and for part one of the new two-part LEED AP exam. You will be trained on concepts fundamental to the LEED Rating Systems and learn successful green building strategies. This class qualifies you to take the LEED Green Associate Exam.

Professional Pharmacy Technician Test Preparation

The New York State Department of Labor projects a 28% increase in Pharmacy Technician jobs through 2018. This course provides instruction to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s National Examina-tion. You must register for the exam by calling 202-429-7576 or by going online: www.ptcb.org. Pharmacy Technicians assist Pharmacists in: obtaining medical information and profiles from patients; accepting refill request; maintaining pharmacy inventory; reordering medications; reading prescriptions to select, count and pour medicines; entering prescription data and generating prescription labels on computer; and other pharmacy related tasks under the supervision of a Pharmacist. CUNY Healthcare Interpreter: Introduction to French/Creole Healthcare Interpreting

This 45-hour introductory course offers participants a basic understanding of the role of the bilingual interpreter in healthcare settings. Are you a bilingual healthcare worker or interested in interpreting in healthcare settings? Learn the role of the interpreter and acquire the knowledge, abilities and skills needed to meet criteria established by the Standards of Practice of International Medical Interpreters Association and Code of Ethics of National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare. Those with experience in medical interpretation but no prior training may enroll. Required: GED or H.S. Diploma. You must be bilingual in English & French/Creole and a language proficiency test will be administered to determine eligibility. To receive a certificate you must pass an external exam upon completion of the course. Books and Language Line Exam fees are included in the course fee.

A CNA works under the supervision of an RN, LPN, PA or MD, providing assistance to patients with daily tasks. You will learn patient care skills such as feeding, bathing, grooming, dressing, exercise, movement and patient call signals. You must complete 120 hours of training (90 classroom hours followed by 30 clinical hours). Textbook is required. Textbook and external exam fees are not included in course fees.

Phlebotomy

Learn proper blood collection techniques and the preparation & proper handling of blood specimens in a hands-on supervised environment using mannequin arms and artificial blood. The PCT Program will prepare you to work as an entry-level Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, wound care center, or long-term care facility. Upon completion you will be able to check vital signs, perform CPR, assist in medical exams, and perform EKGs, basic lab procedures, and phlebotomy. The PCT Program includes CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG and CPR. Textbook fees and external exams are not included in course fees. Required: GED or High School diploma or existing CNA Certification.

Patient Care Technician Exam Preparation

Prepare to pass the PCT national exam. This preparation course covers and reviews medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ethics and legal considerations, OSHA and infection control, general patient care, medical history and patient interview, physical examination and vital signs, assisting in a medical facility, elimination and sample creation, oxygen and respiratory assistance, surgical patient and wound care, review of the anatomy of the heart, basic concepts in EKG recording, phlebotomy review of duties and responsibilities, and special phlebotomy procedures. Programmable Logic Controllers Program (online)

The PLC Technician training program introduces the concepts of PLCs and explains how they can be used in a plant or manufacturing system. This training “tutor” is designed for first time users to make a safe and quick start in getting to know the fundamentals of PLC programming. The average completion time of the nineteen training modules is thirty-two weeks of part-time study. Requirement: High School diploma or GED. $1,800

Robotics Technician Certificate (online)

The Robotics Technician training program introduces the concepts of industrial robots and explains how they can be used in a plant or manufacturing system. The primary focus of the program is on automated manufacturing processes, as well as the role of robots and all of their support equipment. Areas of study include motion programming, palettizing, conveyor systems, computer networking, automated sorting systems, vision and tactile sensors and computer integration. Typical completion time for the program is 28 weeks. Course material is delivered and supported by a combination of CD-ROM/online resources. The robot simulation software, Robologix, provides access to a range of industrial robots including Cartesian and SCARA designs and includes various end effectors. Web Video Production Certificate

“Are you ready to become an Internet success? Learn how you, too, can develop, post and market online video content to promote yourself, your original programming, or your business.” Upon completion of the course you will have developed a short script and well-crafted video, obtained knowledge of how to post your video on YouTube and other venues, and developed a business/marketing plan to make posted content successful, including using social media. The course will be taught by Independent Television Writer, Producer and Director, Jorge Rivera. Mr. Rivera was awarded as a 2010 Webby Honoree and named in the 2010 Marketing Sherpa Hall of Fame. COURSE CANCELLATION: Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) courses are subject to a minimum enrollment. Note that class schedules are subject to change due to unscheduled events, inclement weather, under-enrollment, etc.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS: Certificates of successful completion are issued to all students who satisfactorily complete the Certificate Program. They are mailed within three weeks after the completion of the course. Certificates may be withheld pending receipt of all outstanding tuition and fees. A $10 fee is charged to reissue certificates, completion letters or transcripts.
