The Course

Siti Marina Kamil received her B.Ed. TESL from the University Malaya and her MA in Communication and Language Studies from the University of East Anglia, UK. Being an educator for more than a decade has given her the opportunity to share her passion for teaching to both local and international students at school and university level. She has conducted various English for Special Purposes workshops and short language courses for UNIMAS staff.

Course Details

This course is designed to guide participants in using English language for effective communications at the workplace. It aims to expose participants to the skills required for effective face-to-face communications, telephone conversations and e-mail writing in workplace settings. Participants will be given the opportunity to apply the skills taught during hands-on, interactive sessions.

Duration 8 weeks (on Saturdays) - 2 hours per week

Target group Front-desk personnel, receptionist and new secretaries.

Salina Pit graduated with a B.Ed. TESL. She is highly motivated and exceptionally passionate and enthusiastic in language teaching and has accumulated over 12 years of experience in teaching both in school and tertiary levels. She is also actively involved in conducting short language courses for UNIMAS support staff and working adults and short language courses for UNIMAS staff.

Rosnah Bt Hj Mustafa graduated with a MEd in Applied Linguistics from the University of Western Australia. She has experience teaching the TESL education and language courses and the university generic English subjects. She is also actively involved in teaching short courses to the university support staff. Rosnah is a firm believer in student and learning-centred approach in language teaching.

Melisa Malini A/P Raja Gopal holds a B.Ed. (TESL) degree. She has been teaching English language for three years at both school and tertiary levels. Most of her experience in teaching involves hands-on activities, lectures, online-learning and workshops.

Florence G. Kayad has fourteen years of working experience in English education. She has been involved in planning, developing and implementing a wide range of English Language courses for all levels of proficiency and for various purposes at the university. She holds a MA (Hons.) (Applied Linguistics) from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

Collin Jerome has been teaching English language and literature at Centre for Language Studies, UNIMAS since 2002. He holds a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a PhD in English Literature from University of Sussex, UK. His research interests include contemporary literature, literary theory and criticism, literature in the ESL classroom, gender and sexuality in pedagogy, literature, and media.

Radina Mohamad Deli has a MA in Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics from the University of Essex, UK, and has been teaching remedial and generic English language courses at the Centre for Language Studies, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak for six years. She has also been involved in the teaching of several English language short courses for UNIMAS administrative staff over the years.
