Guidelines for Decorating with mirror When hanging a mirror above a fireplace mantel, check the reflection. The only

image reflected must not be the ceiling. If a mirror has an incredibly great frame, consider it artwork rather than a frame

and worry less about the reflection and more about the placement of the mirror as artwork.

Most mirrors have two hooks on the back for hanging. Don’t fix a wire from one hook to the other. Instead, use two hangers; this way mirror will stay straight. Wire can stretch. It is also easier for the mirror to move and hang crooked from a wire.

Color appears stronger in a mirror. Therefore, be sure to consider adjacent color when hanging a mirror. Darker colors can get darker, making a space appear dull, while whites and bright colors sparkle and create a lighter reflection.

When hanging a mirror above a table or counter, be sure to eliminate clutter. Be careful when hanging mirrors that will reflect lighting fixtures. Often it can

create an unbearable glare.
