Accessing Early Japanese Materials in Europe
Union Catalogue of Early Japanese Books in Europe コーニツキ・欧州所在日本古書総合目録
• http://base1.nijl.ac.jp/~oushu/
• Based on data compiled by Prof Peter Kornicki, Cambridge University
• Hosted by National Institute of Japanese Literature since 2001
• Wide coverage – 136 collections in 21 countries
• Large amount of data – approx. 14,000+ records
• “List of Libraries” is useful directory of collections of early material
• Institutions in “List of Libraries” not necessarily represented in database (yet)
• Data input still in progress
• Unclear which institutions’ holdings are complete e.g Bayerische Staatsbibliothek 137 items listed
but almost 1,000 in the collection, BL 645 but we have 3,500+
