Accelerate business growth at the heart of Motorsport Valley ®

Over the past thirty years, the UK has become the world centre for the R&D and innovation needed to succeed in world motorsport. A unique business cluster of 4000 companies has chosen to make the internationally-recognised “Motorsport Valley ®” its home

Chris became Chief Executive of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) in 1998, since then he has driven it to become the world’s leading business organisation for the high-performance engineering and motorsport entertainment industry.

Corporate membership includes teams from Formula One, NASCAR, World Rally, World Sportscars alongside major manufacturers, service suppliers and circuit operators.

Members’ sales exceed £5 billion of which they invest over £1 billion in R&D in their race for success; a ratio double that of pharmaceutical and ten times automotive.

In 2000, Chris created the MIA’s Energy-Efficient Motorsport cross-sector programme which has opened significant opportunities for motorsport companies in the energy-efficient, lightweight, low-carbon business in many new business sectors.

Chris, a former Roosevelt Scholar, was a successful sportscar driver, team owner and race-series promoter whilst building his multi-million pound international sporting goods distribution group.

He is a Fellow of the Motor Industry and the Institute of Directors, co-author of “Motorsport Going Global: the challenges facing the world’s motorsport industry” published by Palgrave MacMillan and a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC).

Paul started his publishing career as commercial director for IPC and EMAP’s Golf titles. Moving to a new position as European Sales Director of Quokka Sports, a NASDAQ listed sports internet company. Paul swapped to the automotive world when he became commercial director for Benfield Sports across the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series. In 2005, he became the Managing Director for BSI Speedway – two years before IMG purchased the rights for the series. Through his experience of running the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series, he understood and realised the potential of rallycross, particularly the short race format, as a TV product. Once IMG had an agreement with the FIA, Paul took a step back from the running of the series. In 2015, IMG asked him to run World RX on a day-to-day basis, and in 2017 he was promoted to Senior Vice President of IMG Motorsports and running both Rallycross and Speedway.

Nicole Boehler, a US litigator based in Germany, is the managing partner of our Böblingen office. Her product liability and class action defence practice has given her a keen appreciation of the significant differences between the US and German legal systems, along with an ability to communicate those differences in a language all parties understand. Fluent in German, Nicole also possesses a firm understanding of engineering and electronic discovery speak, two mainstays of her practice. At the same time, her in-depth knowledge of the rules of US discovery and eDiscovery proves invaluable when those clients are compelled to produce discoverable materials for US courts. Nicole also helps clients avoid litigation by setting up and managing international litigation coordination programs so as to minimise regulatory and safety-related liability risks, both civil and criminal. In addition, she advises international clients on entity formation and contracts from a risk management perspective.
