HOW TO APPLYCAMPUS LIFE

FINANCIAL AID

1Apply for Admission Complete the online admissions application at http://www.lonestar.edu/admissions-application.htm or meet with an advisor in the SCC Building for assistance.

Lone Star College-Kingwood students have access to scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study options to help pay for college.

Financial aid packages may include more than one type of award. However, the combined total of all awards must not exceed a student’s cost of attendance (COA). If a student’s financial aid package exceeds his/her COA, awards will be adjusted according to federal, state, and institutional guidelines. We encourage students to apply by April 1. This gives students the best chance of receiving state aid that is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must complete the FAFSA each year.

Lone Star College is an open-enrollment institution. Students are accepted once they have completed the admissions process. Follow the new student checklist below to complete the admissions process and become a LSC student.

2 Complete Pre-Assesment Activity Pre-assessment activity must be completed before attending orientation.

3Complete Placement Testing All students, unless considered TSI Exempt, must take a the TSI assessment prior to enrolling in classes.

4Satisfy Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination RequirementTexas law requires most incoming college students to be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis or provide an exemption request declining the vaccine.

5Complete New Student Orientation Getting off to the best start at the beginning of the semester is important; therefore, all First Time in College students at Lone Star College are required to complete a student orientation.

6Register & Pay for Classes Meet with an advisor to review your program of study, class selections and class schedule before registering for classes. You can complete class registration with an advisor or online.
