What is the course about?Positive global trends have recently been published by the World TradeOrganisation, whereby it is suggested that there will be increased growthin international tourism with arrivals rising to 1.6 billion by 2020, andsuch tourists are estimated to spend circa $2,000 billion. In reportspublished by the World Travel and Tourism Council, such figures arepredicted to increase by 2024, of whereby tourism employment will directlyaccount for 126,257,000 jobs, which equates to an increase of 2.0% perannum over the next 10 years. This proposed BA (Hons) in InternationalTourism Management programme is designed to focus on specialist modulesbased on international tourism and travel issues and internationally-focused real-world examples/work experience. The programme has beendesigned in the context of current trends within the tourism industrywhich is dictating the need for more international professional skills tocreate distinctive global graduates.

What will I learn?Issues and challenges facing international tourism are both complex andinterrelated and the programme will seek to provide an understanding intopolitical, socio-cultural, economic and environmental influences whichimpact upon the development of this sector. When you add in sporting goods, apparel, equipment,and health and fitness spending, the sports industry generates as much as$700 billion yearly, or 1 percent of global GDP. The report concluded thatrevenue of sports events should continue to grow in the next cycle withprojected revenue of $91 billion by 2017, an additional $15 billion valuebetween 2013 and 2017. The BA (Hons) in Sports Management &Development offers learners the opportunity to understand key sector specificorganisations, practices and technical delivery which would include NGB’s,professional sports teams, elite athletes and educational provision from anactive start through to active for life principle. What is the course about?This course covers all up-to-date computerised accountssystems. It is separated into two modules covering bothmanual and computerised procedures for bookkeeping andpayroll.

What will I learn?The bookkeeping section of the course covers all aspects ofsetting up and working efficiently with computerised accountsystems. The basics of manual accounts will be appliedincluding setting up new companies, entering openingbalances, entering sales invoices, credit notes & supplierpayments, supplier invoices, balance sheets, vat returns,entering journals for accruals and extracting a trial balance.You will also learn about computerised and manual payroll,i.e. tax credits, standard cut-off points, PRSI, statutorydocuments P45, P60, P30 and P35, gross pay and tax liabilityetc.

What is the course about?The Advanced Diploma in Bookkeeping and Payroll builds studentknowledge to a higher level of Computerised Bookkeeping andPayroll working with account adjustments and journals andpreparing management accounts. The course will also giveparticipants a good basis if they wish to advance to professionalaccountancy courses such as the ACCA. It would be also useful forsomeone having completed the ACCA to get a practical workingknowledge of Sage Software at a more advanced level.

What will I learn?On the bookkeeping module participants will learn a wide range ofskills including essential computerised book-keeping skills. Thiscomprehensive diploma covers subjects which include double-entrybook-keeping, using the Journal to correct errors, as well as torecording year-end adjustments prior to preparing the finalaccounts of a business, using Sage 50 Accounts. The payroll modulewill enable participants carry out a range of payroll procedures,manage a payroll system as well as interpret the main provision of arange of legislation and regulations relating to work time. Studentswill analyse a range of documentation an employee may receivefrom Revenue and be able to complete all appropriate employer taxreturn forms. The participant will also be able to process a payrollfor employees, calculate overtime, holidays and benefit-in-kind,redundancy payments, holiday pay, statutory and non-statutorydeductions.

What is the course about?The aim of this course is to give managers with limited or no financialbackground or entrepreneurs with little or no previous financialexperience the skills and confidence to make informed and objectivefinancial decisions and the knowledge to fully participate in strategicpolicy development. This course has been developed to meet the needsof working professionals, managers and supervisory staff, from variousnon-financial background, with responsibility for managing budgets,who receive and need to be able to interpret management reports.
