After taking over charge of National Translation Mission, CIIL as Project Director, NTM,
Mysore, the following work has been completed:
Overall in-charge of NTM with regard to academic, administrative and financial
matters.
1. Conducted the meeting of the reconstituted Editorial Board of the Journal
“Translation Today” in presence of the nodal officer and started working on bringing out the Journal Translation Today and Vol.8 number 1 was released. All the articles have been vetted, edited and brought in a printable form. Currently working on the next volume of the journal.
2. Organised and conducted Project Advisory Committee meeting on 21st July, 2014 at
Sahitya Academy, New Delhi and the minutes of the meeting were circulated to all members and Ministry staff.
3. In order to develop Glossaries in various languages introductory speeches were made, guide lines were suggested. 16 glossary workshops were conducted in which more than 4 lakhs words were compiled in different disciplines. Steps have been taken for development of glossaries online particularly in the preparation of materials in Kannada.
4. 3-week intensive training programme a “Course on Introduction to Translation” was conducted in the financial year 2013-14 and the target set by the Ministry of 247
was achieved. In the current year 127 students/research scholars were trained till IV batch and further steps have been taken to train the scholars in the remaining batches. Lecture classes were conducted to students on the following topics by me

7. Highlighted the importance and significance of the work conducted by NTM in the presence of Dr. Sam Pitroda at Infosys Campus, Mysore on 21st March, 2014 with wide media coverage.
8. Inaugurated the Konkani Glossary workshop at Goa in October, 2013. 9. During my reign the translated books of Kannada, Punjabi and Oriya were released.
Necessary correspondence regarding the publication of knowledge text books in Maithili, Kashmiri, Urdu etc., were made in addition to the books which are under publication.
10. Efforts were made in contacting the publishers to hasten up the publication, personal meetings were held during tour programme and quite often in house publication teams meetings were conducted in order to strengthen the publication. Steps have been taken to reconstitute the publication team and different assignments have been given.
11. Steps to bring out hand books of NTM have been done and steps are being taken to bring out the newsletter of NTM.
12. For better dissemination of information, the website of NTM has been updated. 13. Prepared translators training package for conducting the courses in translation. 14. Work on developing a thesaurus in Kannada and Odiya has been initiated. 15. Translated the documents for different government agencies like
a. Speech and Hearing, Mysore b. NCFTE, Delhi c. Adult literacy work d. State Resource Centre, Karnataka.
16. Workshop on expanding transfer rules in English to Kannada machine translation package was conducted.

Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram entitled “Chomskyan Linguistics”
Self Assessment Statement about own achievement: Contributed immensely to the
development of Malayalam teaching at the Centre and was also involved actively in organising
and conducting several programmes. Under the Principalship/Professorship of self the
academic excellance of the Centre had been taken to greater heights. Organised more than 70
acdemic programmes ,the teacher trainees strength has been increased to the maximum.
Developed a data base for management of teacher trainees from 1970 to 2006.The Centre was
able to publish books of it`s own and Language Lab has been modernised. As the Principal
and Professor-cum-Deputy Director of SRLC supervised a major project on the Development
of Bilingual bidirectional electronic dictionaries between Malayalam-English, Malayalam-
Kannada, Malayalam-Tamil, Malayalam-Telugu.All the eight volumes of the Dictionaries
along with Cds have been published and released by Sri.Anant Kumar Singh ,Joint
Secretary,MHRD,NewDelhi on 19th
July,2011 at Mysore on the occasion of the Institute day.
The infrastructural and academic facilities have been improved substantially.Post retirement
I have been working on Translation from Malayalam to English and vice versa for various agencies as a Free Lance Translator on different domains and also using Computer
accelerated translation systems such as Fluency,2013 suite and Trados 2014. Appointed as the
Project Director,National Translation Mission,Central Institute of Indian Languages,Mysore
from 6th
September,2013(contract for 3 years).This is a Government of India initiative for the
creation of a Knowledge society and Translation has been mentioned as the greatest
contributory factor for the creation of Knowledge society and currently I am involved in the
fulfillment of this dream.
