• Fall 2005… statistics according to NextStep Magazine:– 1/3 of parents have not saved for their children’s education– 50% have saved less than $50,000– Only 27% of parents are willing to take out loans– 55% indicate their children must share the burden by taking out
loans– 96% of parents believe they have not saved enough– 61% of parents would encourage their child to attend a state

College Debt Piling Higher Than EverUSA Today (6/12/06)
– In 2004 nearly 8% of graduating seniors carried
student loans of $40,000 or more – 11% of private college graduates and 5.5% of public
college graduates have loans of $40,000 or more – The average college senior in 2006 is graduating
more than $19,000 in debt– There is pressure for college students to
pursue advanced degrees… incurring even more student debt
