CLASS TESTS: THE KEYS TO MASTERING A SUBJECT Assessment is doubtlessly a very important part of studies and learning. In order to assess and assist each student with the process of learning, two class tests were conducted per month for the classes XI and XII. It was helpful for the students to revise their work and improve their performance Greetings from DPS MIS! After bidding a cheerful adieu to the previous session, we once again greet the new academic session 2019-20 with a feeling of success, new hopes and aspirations. The first term of the academic year 2019 -20 was packed with many curricular activities. The Weekly Tests and the First Terminal Examinations formed a busy schedule for the students of XI and XII. Assessment is doubtlessly a very important part of studies and learning. In order to assess

and assist each student with the process of learning, two class tests were conducted per

month for the classes XI and XII. It was helpful for the students to revise their work and

improve their performance

Greetings from DPS MIS!

After bidding a cheerful adieu to the previous session, we once again greet

the new academic session 2019-20 with a feeling of success, new hopes and

aspirations. The first term of the academic year 2019 -20 was packed with

SLIP TESTS: TO ASSESS AND TO SUPPORT

Three to four Slip Tests were conducted before the First

Terminal examination in an effective manner to evaluate

and equip the children in their subject knowledge. It was

also a revision before their terminal exams.

STAY BACK CLASSES TO COMPENSATE

THE LOSS OF CLASS HOURS

Six days of stay back classes were conducted from 2.30 -

4.30 pm before the commencement of Ramadan to cover the

portion for the smooth completion of the syllabus of the first

Terminal examination.

SYLLABUS COMPLETED

The syllabus of the first term was covered as planned in the

speculated time period and a thorough revision was

conducted in all the classes. 40% of the entire syllabus was

covered before the summer vacation.

WEEKLY TESTS

The first weekly tests for the class XII were conducted in the

months of March and April. The weak students who scored

less than 40% of marks were identified and given special

guidance for improvement by the subject teachers. The

second round of weekly tests for the class XII and the first

weekly tests for the class XI started in the month of May and

will be completed by the month of September.

FIRST TERMINAL EXAMINATION

The First Terminal Examination for Grade XI and XII

commenced on-19th to 28th of May, 2019. It tested the

knowledge of all the students in various subjects.

REMEDIAL CLASSES FOR WEAK STUDENTS

Remedial classes were conducted for Classes XI and XII

from 17th June to 26th June, 2019-20 from 2:30 pm to 4:30

pm in a diligent manner for the students, securing less than

40% mark in the examination.

DPS-MIS FELICITATED 240 STUDENTS FROM GRADE VI TO IX &

XI FOR 100% ATTENDANCE IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-19

On 11th April 2019, DPS-Modern Indian School organized a felicitation ceremony to

appreciate the dedication and punctuality of the 100% attendance achievers from Grade

VI to IX & XI (2018-19). The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Harish Kanjani,

Director DPS-MIS.

Around 240 students from Grade VI to IX & XI (2018-19) were awarded with badges and

certificates of appreciation for their 100% attendance. A scintillating folk dance by the

budding artists of DPS-MIS concluded the ceremony.

The programme was adeptly coordinated by Ms. Deepa Chakraborty, (Activity

Coordinator, Senior wing) under the guidance of Principal, Ms. Asna Nafees and

Headmistress Senior Secondary School, Ms. Soma Bhattacharjee.

DPS-MODERN INDIAN SCHOOL SENIOR BOYS EMERGE CHAMPIONS AT QATAR DEBATE - 2019-20

Qatar Schools Debating National Championship (Boys) took place on Saturday 20th April

at Newton International School. The top twelve teams faced each other in successive

rounds of debate.

The Grand Finals was held at the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University

on 24th April, 2019. The finals were between DPS-MIS and DeBakey High School. They

debated on the motion ‘This House Would only imprison individuals who are a direct and

continuous threat to Society’.

Farhan Sakkir XII-D, Fahad Ahmad Khan XI-B, and Pradipta Paul XII-G throbbed with

confidence during the debate and claimed the championship once again along with the

League Championship and prestigious Running Trophy.

DPS-MIS students snapped all major awards which includes Farhan as the Best Speaker

at the Grand Finals and Best Speaker in League followed by Fahad as second speaker

and Shivom Dhamija as tenth speaker.

OVERWHELMING SUCCESS OF DPSMIS SENIOR GIRLS IN THE QATAR SCHOOL DEBATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Qatar Schools Debating National Championship (Girls) took place on Saturday 20th April

at Newton International School whereas, the Grand Finale of the same was held on

College of Islamic Studies on 22nd of April on the motion “This House, as the Chinese

Communist Party, would abandon aggressive nationalism”.

DPS-MIS teams of passionate debaters proved their excellence once again with

overwhelming success for consecutive three years in the National Championship. DPS-

MIS Girls team comprising Samiksha Arora, Nakshatra Gayan and Priyal Dhade with their

exemplary debating skills, remained invincible and secured the championship in the

exuberant battle of words against De Bakey Medical School. DPS-MIS Girls’ even bagged

The Qatar School Debate League Runner Up Trophy 2019. Nakshatra Gayen was declared

as the Best Speaker of the Grand Finale.

DPS-MIS organized an orientation programme for students of class XI and XII in the school

auditorium on 25th April, 2019. The school's orientation programme was designed to

support all students as they begin their educational journey in the new classes at DPS-MIS.

Ms.Asna Nafees, Principal, gave valuable guidance to students and implored them to make

good choices today to lead a successful life tomorrow. She also spoke about the importance

of a coeducational environment which will encourage their self-esteem, social skills and

better prepare them for a diverse world where both genders play important roles. Ms. Soma

Bhattarcharjee ,Head Mistress of Senior Secondary School explained the discipline policy

of the school. The class representatives of grade XI and XII,Mr. Abdul Kayum and Mr.Milind

Bhave draw attention to the scheme of examination of the respective classes. Mr. Jose

Kalyan CBSE Coordinator for class XI and XII highlighted on the CBSE Guidelines Ms.Jolly

Sabu, University Admission Counsellor gave expert advice on college application process,

standardised tests and how to write a personal statement or an essay among other

formalities.

DPS-MIS SENIOR SCHOOL PREFECTORIAL BODY SWORN IN FOR 2019-20

The Investiture Ceremony is a prestigious event in every school’s calendar. It sets the right

tone for an academic year and signifies the reliance and confidence that the school

consigns in the newly invested office bearers. To entrust the newly appointed senior school

Prefectorial Body of 2019-20 with powers and responsibilities ‘Investiture Ceremony’ was

unveiled on 30 April, 2019 at DPS Modern Indian School.

The ceremony was graced by the august presence of Chief Guest Ms.Noora Abdulrahman

Fakhroo, Manager Enterprise Risk Management, Ooredoo, Doha, Qatar, Vice President DPS-

MIS-Mr. Yasir Nainar, esteemed members of the executive committee and other dignitaries.

‘Grandeur’, DPS-MIS yearly magazine, a mirror of its achievements and activities, was

released by the distinguished guests.

The excitement reached its pinnacle when the oath of allegiance for the newly elected

student parliament was administered by Principal Ms. Asna Nafees, Headmistress, Ms.

Soma Bhattacharjee and Activity Coordinator Ms. Deepa Chakraborty.

58 students are vested with posts and positions in the Prefectorial body of 2019-20. With

new responsibilities placed on their firm shoulders, newly appointed Head Boy- Faiz Asim

Mohinuddin and Head Girl- Advaita Nair made their maiden speech as they took charge of

their duties and assured to fulfil them with commitment, confidence and competence.

DPS-MIS AWARDED 182 STUDENTS FROM SENIOR SCHOOL FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE & ALL ROUND PERFORMANCE 2019-20

On 9 May 2019, DPS-Modern Indian School organized the ‘Scholar Badge &All Rounders’

Award Ceremony to felicitate the multitude of meritorious students from Grades VIII, IX &XI

who proved their mettle in the field of academics and extra- curricular activities in the

academic year 2018-19.

The solemn occasion was graced by the Chief Guests Mr. Yasir Nainar, Vice President DPS-

MIS, Special Guest, Prof. Khalid Al Jufairi, Principal Ms. Asna Nafees, Headmistresses,

other distinguished guests, proud parents and the young achievers.

DPS-MIS HELD AWARD CEREMONY - TO FELICITATE GRADE X &XII - WUNDERKINDS FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE & ALL ROUND PERFORMANCE - 2019-20

On 20th June, 2019, DPS-Modern School organized ‘AWARD CEREMONY’ to honour the

meritorious students of Grade X & XII (2018-19) whose persistent quest for success,

dedication sincerity and perseverance rewarded them to surpass excellence and taste the

nectar of impeccable success.. The solemn occasion was graced by the Chief Guest Mr.

Hemant Kumar Dwivedi, First Secretary (Information &Education), Embassy of India, Qatar,

President DPS-MIS, Mr.Hassan Chougule, Vice-President, Mr. Yasir Nainar, distinguished

members of DPS-MIS executive committee, other eminent guests, key functionaries, and the

proud parents of the achievers.

300 students from Grade X & XII (2018-2019) were awarded with trophies, blue blazers,

blue ties, gold &silver medals and merit certificates as a hallmark of true academic genius,

100% attendance and all round performance. The young prodigies, bright eyed and full of

beans, marched forward to receive their honor.
