LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello, and welcome to American Sentinel University. Over the years and in every survey, our students and Alumni have told us they chose American Sentinel because they wanted an excellent education from an institution that cared about their success. It’s absolutely true, we do care about our students’ success. We want every student who starts a degree program to graduate from that program at American Sentinel. We work hard providing individual support to our students because we know that the supporting them, listening to them, providing encouragement to them, goes a long way in helping them achieve their goals. I am excited for you to begin your journey so you can experience our culture of support too! One way we stay focused on your success is to review our mission regularly. American Sentinel University’s mission is to provide high-quality, innovative degree and certificate programs that enable students to enhance their professional and civic lives. Our mission is important to the University. Every month a different department shares how they support our mission and every December we, along with the Board of Trust, review the mission statement to ensure it still reflects our goals and objectives. I am happy and not surprised that the board reaffirmed our mission once again this year because we all take pride in the programs we offer, the innovations we develop and the success of our students. We believe we can’t succeed

unless our students are successful. It should be clear that our focus is on your success, but I like to think that innovation is in our DNA. We are always looking at ways we can introduce new resources and services that improve students’ experience or gives them more paths to success which is why I am pleased to say that students will find Powered by SIMPath® added to more programs in 2020! Whatever path you choose, I wish you the best of luck as you move forward to achieve your personal and professional goals. It’s a lot of hard work to go back to school while juggling so many different priorities around work and family. But we are here to help you succeed so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need assistance with anything. We look forward to celebrating your success at commencement! Mary Adams

“Per federal regulation (34 CFR §668.43(a)(5(v)), institutions must disclose the following specific state authorization categories.

Federal Category States in Respective Category Institutional Guidelines for State Placement A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum meets the State education requirements for licensure or certification (Currently enrolling students in these states).

    Maryland, North Dakota, Colorado.

States in this category have a Board of Nursing that requires a formal approval process in place for APRN programs and the university has an approval letter on file from the State.

A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum does not meet the State educational requirements for licensure or certification (Not currently enrolling students in these states).

Arizona, District of Columbia, Louisiana, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, US Territories.

States in this category have a Board of Nursing that requires a formal approval process in place for APRN programs and the university does not have an approval letter on file from the State.

A list of all States for which the institution has not made a determination that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification (Currently enrolling students in these states).

California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Illinois, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, Indiana.

States are listed this category if their Board of Nursing doesn’t have a formal approval process of APRN programs, but after a full review of the State’s rules and regulations does not reveal any compliance issues.

*American Sentinel University reviews the relevant rules and regulations for each State before enrolling students in that State. Many State regulatory bodies (i.e. Boards of Nursing) do not have formal approval processes for out-of-state APRN programs. These States are listed above as states for which the University has not made a determination, as formal approval of our program is not available. We do not accept enrollments from students in the states for which the university does not meet the State educational requirements. The University has designed the program to satisfy the requirements set by our numerous accreditors as well as most states. Because many states do not offer an approval process for our APRN program, we encourage students to review their own State Board of Nursing requirements for individual licensure and contact that Board with any questions. ADMISSIONS POLICIES AND REQUIREMENTS In accordance with Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of Educational Amendments of 1972, Section 5 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, American Sentinel University admits all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, political affiliations, or political philosophy. The university recruits and admits those students who have the potential to successfully complete the educational programs. The prospective student’s motivation and interest in succeeding in his/her chosen business field are important factors for admission consideration as are the student’s academic background and qualifications.

At American Sentinel University, an admissions advisor will personally walk each student through each enrollment step, explaining what documents are needed to receive transfer credit for previous college work, professional certifications, and/ or credit for life and work experience.

RN to Bachelor of Science Nursing (RN to BSN) Program Requirements To be considered for admission to the American Sentinel University RN to Bachelor of Science Nursing program, all applicants must submit the following:

    • A completed application. Applicants educated within the United States who hold a U.S. Registered Nurse (RN) license must submit the following:

    • A copy of their active and unencumbered U.S. RN license. • Official transcripts* from each post-secondary institution attended. The institution(s) must send the transcripts directly to

American Sentinel University. Students’ nursing education must be from a hospital school of nursing or an associate degree nursing program with a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (if it is below 2.0 please provide separate statement as to why your GPA was below 2.0 and why you feel you will be successful now) and accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the U.S. Department of Education.

Applicants educated outside of the United States who hold a U.S. RN license must submit the following: • A copy of their active and unencumbered U.S. RN license. • An Academic Report from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member organization,

Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. Applicants educated outside of the United States who do not hold a U.S. RN license must submit the following: • A Validation of Licensure Report that shows evidence that they are legally authorized to practice as a professional nurse

Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in another field will automatically be awarded 30 general education credit hours to meet the degree requirements for RN to BSN.

*Individuals utilizing federal financial aid for all or part of their tuition must submit official transcripts prior to acceptance. Individuals not utilizing federal financial aid, may submit unofficial copies of transcripts for purposes of evaluation and acceptance. However official copies must be received by the Registrar’s Office no later than the end of your first 8 week term. Failure to do so will result in not being able to begin future courses.

Colorado Nursing Articulation Model American Sentinel’s RN to BSN program is based on the Colorado Nursing Articulation Model, a statewide agreement that permits Registered Nurses who are graduates of hospital schools of nursing or who have associate degrees accredited by agencies recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the U.S. Department of Education to advance into an RN to BSN program without testing. Under this model, applicants receive “block” transfer credits for their original associate degree or diploma nursing education without evaluation of specific nursing courses or testing in nursing content areas. Students entering American Sentinel’s RN to BS program with a diploma in nursing or an associate degree in nursing and an unencumbered RN license are automatically awarded 60 credit hours for their U.S. RN license and original nursing curriculum, including foundational courses.
