EDITORIALWelcome to 2014. We hope you had a great Christmas/New Year/holiday period and would liketo thank you for your continued interest in Whats On Havanathe de nitive monthly culturaland travel guide to Havana.

Once the head clears from holiday celebrations (and Havana de nitely saw some brilliant New Years Eve parties), there will be no need to hibernate. January 2014 has some great events, festivals and concerts in store. January is still mid-winter in Cuba so expect temperatures todrop as low as 20-25 degrees (Centigrade!) Cubans may nd it crazy to visit the beach but dontpay any attention, unless a cold front is passing through. Only 20 minutes east of Old Havana theyremain gorgeous even when locals would not be seen dead there.

An absolute must for anyone who likes Cuban boxing is the World Series of Boxing, which Cubahas entered for the rat time. This month sees bouts between the Cuban Domadores and theMexican Guerreros on January 18 and the Polish Hussars on February 1, 2014 at Ciudad Deportiva.

Literary buffs will want to check out the prestigious Premio Casa de las Amricas (Jan 20-30).In the dance world, there is a varied ballet program including several performances of TheNutcracker by the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. Try to see the brilliant Irene Rodrguezs amencocompany on January 29 at the Teatro Nacional. In theatre, Carlos Diazs provocative Antigone isplaying on weekend nights at the Teatro Triann, and is a must see.

The music and dance program quickly comes back into gear this weekend (Sat, Jan 4) with FrankDelgado at Priv Lounge and Roberto Carcasss at Miramar Caf. Later in the month dont missthe incomparable Silvio Rodrguez in Concert at Plaza de San Francisco de Ass, January 19, 6pm.

Other events include the Marcha de las Antorchas starting from Havana University at midnight on January 27 to celebrate the birth of Jos Mart and the Chinese New Year on January 31. Outsideof Havana you should try and make it to Trinidad for the XXV Coloquio de la Cultura Trinitariafrom January 9-11. This most beautiful colonial city is celebrating its 500th anniversary this yearand there is a packed cultural program right up to January 19.

Thanks to all of our contributors, sponsors, partners and readers. Do please keep providingus with your feedback, comments and suggestions. All enquiries should be directed to SophiaBeckman at [email protected]

Cubas DomadoresThe team, which contains the leading stars ofthe Cuban Olympic Boxing squad, is called theDomadores or [Lion] Tamers in English. The logo pays homage to Cuban boxer Te loStevenson, the countrys three time Olympic Goldmedalist and World Champion, who died in 2012

aged 60. He is widely regarded as being the mostsuccessful boxer that Cuba has ever produced andit is his image that the team is ghting under. According to Alberto Puig de la Barca, President ofthe Cuban Boxing Federation, the logo design wasinspired by the traditional strength and prestigeof Cuban boxing. It encapsulates the obligationof every member of the team to ght for thewin in each and every bout, with the purpose ofcon rming that our country belongs among theworlds elite in this sport. He went on to explainthat it is the graphic expression of our will toovercome our adversaries, to respect fair-play andto represent our ag.

December 6, 2013 marked the return of semi-professional boxing to Cuba for the rst time in52 years. Over 14,000 people came to watch the

rst ever Domadores match. That set a new WSBrecord. Erislandy Savn got a knowing cheer ofapproval from the crowd when he chose to voltover the top rope in the manner formally usedby his six-time World Champion and three-timeOlympic gold medal winning uncle, Felix Savn.Having won their rst two matches against Mexicoand Poland, the Domadores of Cuba entered thering of the Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum in Havana

as favorites keen to maintain their position at thetop of their group. The local line-up presentedtwo changes to the team that debuted against theMexican Guerreros in the 56 and 64 kg division.Featherweight Marcos Forestal and young LuisOliva joined their teammates Yosbani Veita,Ramn Luis and Guantanamo native ErislandySavn in the 49, 75 and 91 kg divisions, respectively. The Russian team was made up of MuhammadSebo, Radjab Butaev (64 kg), Bator Sagaluev (49 kg),

Light fyweightYOSVANI VEITA VS BATOR SAGALUEVWorld bronze medalist Yosvani Veita left no room fordoubt in his 3 to 0 victory. Breezing with con dence hefought unguarded with his hand down from the centre ofthe ringa world class master of the sport. He looked so

good in the ring and his jabs seemed so sharp that it lookedlike he could have beaten anyone in the world last night. Yosbany took his personal record to 2-0 and you have towonder if there are many out there who are capable ofbeating him this year.

Flyweight MARCOS FORESTAL VS MUHAMMAD SEBOMarcos Forestal came into the match as the underdog giventhat Sebo is the national Russian runner-up. But the youngCuban showed his spirit, even continuing to ght after acut on his forehead stopped the ght on several occasions.Nevertheless, and even though the constant jabs of theRussian didnt let him do a neater job, he managed to comeout with 2-1 after his opponent left the ring because of afacial wound.

MiddleweightRAMON LUIS VS ANDREY EFREMENKOThis was the best ght of the evening which energized andthen fed of the crowd, which responded to the style andshowmanship of Luis. The tall Cuban southpaw was sublime, economical in the ring and smooth in his movements. His evasion skills were incredible. He basically boxed theentire 5th round with his hands by his sides. The Russianwas unable to get near him for much of the bout, while theCubans own punching repertoire was excellent.

Heavyweight ERISLANDY SAVN VS VITALY KUDUKHOVSavn displayed excellent technique to provide Cubas

nal win. The Russian having taken a beating in round one, adjusted his approach and started to ght in close turningthe match into a real scrap. He used spoiling techniquesthat were very ugly but nonetheless tactically exactly whatwas needed. The match wasnt the most beautiful of the

evening, but because of the experienced Russians tactics,it was possibly the most competitive

La isla del da despusis a collection of watercolorsby Luis Enrique Camejo. In a post-impressionistmanner and the artists personal style, the city isseen under a heavy storm as an expression of itsinner state, as a re ection of the checkered times. The question is: what could happen the day afterthe day on which we are alive? The battle betweencertainty and doubt is unleashed and into this verybattle Camejo has ventured to tell us a singulartale about what is being wrought in that kind offathomless hole which is the future, something inwhich what we call destiny plays a part. The artists contemplation takes him to view theisland from outside, lifted up on the violent crest

of the waves, at the very moment one is attemptingto reach the spot that is so yearned for, on theother side of the avalanche, sprayed by the saltwater. There is something valuable in his gesturethat is preserved by his watercolors. He transmitsunexplainable serenity in the middle of that oodand it helps to multiply the messages found ineach piece.Havana is probably one of the most photographedcities in the world: between crumbling buildingsand a certain lack of care, foreigners passionately

take in the enigma it presents. Luis Enrique Camejowashes over certain very speci c sites that arecaptured in such photos. Some are anonymouslocations spread all over the compass but they are

stamped with the rhythm established by a veryspeci c mind that proposes new textures withinthe reigning state of contingency.

The scenarios give the impression that peopleare eeing towards the diaspora. We feel that thisdivisive decision does not turn us into adversaries, but into rather strange complementary elements. In one watercolor that bears the characteristics ofa majestic landscape, a boat is crossing the bay;on the opposite shore, two beings are immersedin meditation. The silhouettes are tiny but clearlydiscernible despite the lowering storm-ridden sky.Previous work by Camejo has revealed to us the cityin its different phases and in different mutations.

Often he is obsessed with the nocturnal effects

provided by concerts of lights that create extraordinary nuances for his paintings. The way he handleslight, including the headlights of cars, is an essential feature of his subject matter. Lights take on asymbolic function because they evoke the speed of the present. Now lights have been replaced by a homogenizing effect that covers everything with a whiteningatmosphere, an intense grayness that takes over the protagonists and functions to great effect. It is aconstant spilling over of what cannot be contained and usurps all that it can, installing a new version ofreality. Inert expectant buildings remain in the background, impeccably detailed, witnessing the energyof the water. And now, night and day fuse together under the effects of fog.Camejo has positioned us at a crossroads where much speculation can take place; his painting not onlyserves the purpose of beauty but that of generating ideas. After viewing the exhibition, one takes to thecity streets again and absorbs the sounds and sensations that reactivate the state of things that drawsout the coordinates of our existence and those of everyone surrounding us

Sometimes we think that our home is boring.Other times we feel it provides a safe haven fromwhich we should never move. Photographer RenPea (Havana, 1957) understands all that very well.He has used the drama implicit in those spacesin a series of his works about the inner Cuba thatis not apparent in the tourist pamphlets. Thehomes captured by his lens show us a precariousyet fantastic reality, full of strange seductions.Peas photos are clean; they dont rely on specialeffects to be pleasing; they clearly take the side ofausterity and defend a single content. From homes, he has moved on to the body. In hisMemorias de la carne (Memories of the Flesh), theblack body is an expression of a ritual that has beeninterrupted by the cruelty of history. The photospropose that we spy on the skin in very speci cspots such as the feet, lips and hands. Provocationends up being abstraction. The photography of Ren Pea is closelyassociated with hasty reactions that originate inhis mind as a result of his manner of reacting to

objects and situations happening to him and thathe is capable of turning into images. This processspeaks volumes about his spontaneity and the

uidity of his intuition that penetrates the depths

of each one of his pieces. Take his photos of theCuban butcher shops: the meat hangs from veryattractive hooks used in the ritual, which are thenfollowed by his own body transformed into a slabof beef.In Ritos (Rites, 1992), the body is handed over to thecontradictory effect of beliefs. There is a carefuluse of gestures, parodies of their representativepurposes that skirt around the meanings andenrich the visual aspect. In his series called Man made Materials (1998-2001), Pea says he starts with a commercialclari cation that he found in a pair of shoes thathad a label saying they were manufactured frombiodegradable materials. The images are acutelyironic as they take on the hypocrisy of the world.Ren Pea has stated: My main interest is notthe physical aspect of society but in its soul; thishas no face. It is loaded with beliefs, fears, sex, hatred, vices, greed, cunning, races, stereotypes, gold, representations, love, contradictions. Eventhough the artist uses his body as a mediator hedoes not think of his work as autobiographical.Through his work he feels that he expresses theconcerns and lives of others.

    Omar Miranda: between

the body and the cityBY RICARDO ALBERTO PREZ

Some contemporary Cuban artists interpretevents in a new way, and Omar Miranda is one ofthose artists. Despite his youth, Omar managesto call on memories of a past that is beyond hisown years. He tells us stories through his photoslike an environment ravaged by the severity of theweather or the precariousness of Havana facingthe sunrise of each day. He makes his preferencesobvious: the desire for shining skin to blind us, sothat touch can multiply emotions. From canilla to Veo, Veo-no veo nada (twoimportant Miranda photographs), a playful spiritbrings together different concepts and convertsthem into faces, odors, and emerging silhouetteswhen the degraded matter is manipulated overone or several surfaces. Behind the titles of eachof his pieces, Miranda transmits baroque strengththat captivates viewers. Sometimes the imagecontent lags behind the words. It is a provocation,a manner of reinforcing the absurd, but at the sametime subjective. Think of his series, such as thenight, the beast, the sheep, the dictionary, your pills or my favourite: odio los documentalesde pinginos (I Hate Penguin Documentaries).Omars is an uncontaminated talent. His city restssomewhere between the tension of the sun andthe coming of night. In his series Tallapiedra,Habana Vieja is shown in its depths and should notbe missed.

It is easy to make Irene out among the four youngwomen who are stamping their feet away. Youngand self-assured, she is running the rehearsal. Shegreets us courteously but is perturbed that we are15 minutes late no Cuban time with Irene. Sheis an adherent to strict discipline and hard work.Qualities, which she believes, can trump physicaldisposition and innate talent. Not that Irene is short of natural ability indeedshe was asked at the ripe old age of 11 by Eduardo Veita, Director of the Spanish Ballet of Cuba, to join his company. Five years later, she graduated asa ballerina and became part of the corps de balletof the company.Little did her mother suspect when she enrolledher daughter in classical ballet at the AndalusianCultural Center that Irene would duck out of classand join the Spanish dance classes which sheclearly found closer to her spit re nature andheart. Irenes mother is very important in her life. She is not only her mom but also the companysrepresentative. Although her moms dream wasfor Irene to become a ballerina, she supported herdaughters wish of studying Spanish dance. Afterher ve-year training under Veita, she became afull member of the Ballet Espaol de Cuba whereshe rose to First Dancer and also became a teacher, choreographer and matre.

She studied Acting at the University of the Arts(ISA) and received Gold Diploma upon graduationin 2007. She has played a few roles in the theaterand she is convinced that this experience is animportant factor in her choreographies. Whenshe auditions dancers for her company, she looksfor integral professionals who are knowledgeableand skilled in different genres of dancing, as wellas theatrical talent. In her opinion, if you donthave dramatic aptitudes, dancing becomes meregymnastics. This is why it is not easy for her to ndthe right dancers, despite the many schools thatnow teach Spanish dance from very early ages.Little girls donning long black skirts with ounces, shawls and owers in their hair on their way todance classes after school has become of late acommon sight in Havana. The girls and boys of the Irene Rodrguez Company

do not hide their pride in being part of this veryyoung dance troupe founded in January 2012. Thelong rehearsal hours, the endless repetitions theyoung director puts them through have producedrave reviews everywhere they have performed. Apart from the work she carries out with her owncompany, she is the Spanish dance choreographicadviser and matre of the Cuban National Ballet, and at the request of Alicia Alonso, in 2012 shebecame the artistic director of the La Huella de

This prize is only one ina long list of accolades and awards received byIrene as dancer, choreographer, promoter of

Spanish culture in Cuba and collaborator withthe Spanish Associations in the island. Becauseof this important work, the Federation of Spanish Associations in Cuba presented her with the Miguel

Courteouslybut rmly, Irene lets us know that she needsto continue with rehearsals for an upcomingperformance. are devoid of antiquities, in which the actors couldbring their characters closer to new meanings. The play features outstanding actress Yuliet Cruzwho was recently acclaimed for her performancein Fchemla si pueden.

Delirio HabaneroSALA ADOLFO LLAURADTeatro de la Luna reruns their acclaimed version ofthis play by Cuban playwright Alberto Pedro. Threedelirious characters who believe they are Varilla (aformer waiter at La Bodeguita del Medio Restau-rant), and famous singers Benny Mor and CeliaCruz, meet every evening at a run-down buildingto recall a long gone Havana, or to plan a futurethat will never be. This production by Teatro de LaLuna has earned the director and the three actorsnumerous prizes plus the praise of audiences whopack theaters wherever they perform.

Unlocking the secretsof the saints in CubaBY LYDIA BELLRain is beating down on steaming asphalt incentral Havana, a hard-bitten patch of town. Iam looking for a street-corner rumba and knowmy destination will call me by the 12/8 slap of apalm on the Cuban bat and cajoneswoodenboxes-- and that distinctive clave sound. FinallyI nd Callejn de Hamel, a graf ti-plastered alleywhere, at noon on Sundays, Havanas Afro-Cubancommunity worship their gods with bewitchingdance and song.Rumba is more than music and danceit is theexpression of Cubas creole identity. The musicis a hybrid, blending Congolese percussion and

amenco-style soul-baring singing in the Yorubalanguage. It is rhythmic, dark, intenseone of theislands rst and enduring sounds, and one that haschanged little since the colonial era. I see a manand a woman doing a rooster-hen dance. Soon, other dancers join. At some point, it becomes adrum-fuelled marathon with spectators pilingin. The air is thick and soupy, the beat relentless. Finally, Ive had enough and elbow my way out ofthe tiny corridor and head toward the work oflocal painter Salvador Gonzlez Escalona, whostarted plastering the walls of this back alley withvivid murals in 1990, bringing a sacred space tothis poorest part of town.Four centuries ago, African slaves brought to Cubaby the Spanish were forbidden to practise their

native religion. They resisted by fusing Africandeities with Catholic saints, worshipping them likethe Spanish did, but imbuing them with their owngods characteristics. So the super-macho AfricanGod, Shango, became Santa Barbara, a womanclothed in the red colour associated with her ery African counterpart; Oya, the undergoddess of theNiger River, became the Virgin of Candelaria.Over time, they genuinely integrated customs andbeliefs from the Spanish. Some white Creoles--native born Cubans of European descent--adopted African practices too, and continue todo so. Santera is growing in every sector of thecommunity, more publicly so since the mid-1990s,as the government started to show a new tolerancetowards religion. In many Cuban houses, eerie, unblinking dolls forma mini altar laced with fruit and tobacco offerings, icons of saints, crosses and seemingly randomobjects. You might think this is a deep devotionto Catholicism. But these are in fact marks ofSantera, still one of the best-kept secrets here. You can spend weeks in Cuba, learn about theRevolution, cigars, the proportion of Cadillacs to

Chevrolets, and how to live on ration books, andyet learn nothing about Afro-Cuban culture. Thisis due not to the lotus-eating indolence of tourists,

but the secrecy in which Santera is cloaked. It was born in Nigeria, along the banks of theNiger River, among the Yoruba people who had apantheon as rich as the Ancient Greeks. In Cuba, about 25 deities remain. Santera says the orishasneed to be placated through gifts or, in extremecases, animal sacri ce to keep evil from the doors.Theres a common phrase in Cuba: Voy a tener queir a Guanabacoa or I need to go to Guanabacoa. But what it actually means is: I am in trouble; onlya priest can save me.This township in eastern Havana, once a majortrading centre for slaves, has a marked Afro-Cubanmusical and cultural identity strongly associatedwith Santera; the secret brotherhood of Abakuand Palo Monte, a nature-worship cult. Its oneof those barrios where the potencialiterally, spiritual potencyis strong. I go there with Toms,a Santera practitioner who runs grassrootsSantera tours in Havana for the uninitiated. The Museo Histrico de Guanabacoa tells acompelling story of the evolution of Afro Cubanculture. Here, clever, youthful guides will prepyou on the main deities, from maternal Yemaya to

rebrand Shango. My guide, Jos, tells me that youcannot understand Cuba until you know Santera, which is present in the way Cubans eat, dress, speak, think and act. He also tells me Santera, because of its natural-born secrecy, could neverbe suppressed during the austere Communistyears in the way Catholicism was.Next stop is the babalawo, the high priest. Tomstakes me to the top guy in his neighborhood,Diez de Octubre. The babalawo is a tall whiteman in his sixties, who is quietly digni ed. I askfor a consultation and I offer him some money.(He makes the sign of the cross with it beforepocketing it.) He says he will consult Olorunthedivination aspect of the great divine entity aboutmy past, present and future, and leads me into abare kitchen. He begins by writing details of my name and dateof birth, then embarks on a ritual of chanting in

Yoruba (invoking his ancestors to clarify hismind, Toms advises), splashing water from halfa coconut shell, tapping the table, clicking his

ngers and throwing a chain hung with discs ofcoconut rind on to the table. He keeps tellingme to keep my open palms towards him. I amslightly distracted by the sound of a squealingpig somewhere in the house Tomas tells me

that there is an initiation ceremony going onas we speak, when the faithful make of cialtheir association with Santera through days ofintense ritual and animal sacri ce. Then his wifebursts in and makes everyone coffee, he lightsup a cigarette and starts chatting with Toms .The famous Cuban pragmatism is not diluted byany magic at work, and it puts me at ease.He tells me (Toms is available to translate foranyone who cannot speak Spanish) that I am ina state of positive evaluation, that I have been

blessed with great tranquility in my relationship, gifted to me by the orisha Oya. Im feeling quiterelieved. Then he announces: until the point ofmarriage. The trouble is you are very bossy. You

onslaught, I read up on Oya. She is a warriorwoman who raises tornadoes and hurricanes, andwho guards the underworld.Ever since meeting Toms, I cant help noticingmotifs of Santera everywhere I go: discardedherbs on street corners; initiated Cubans wearingwhite from head to toe (even their earrings, shoesand umbrellas); strange artefacts and animal bonesin the surf. One day, crossing the Rio Almendares, I look down

La Marcha de lasAntorchasRICARDO ALBERTO PREZ

In Cuba, the writings of one man have enlightenedand inspired us for over a century. The authorsname is Jos Mart and, every year on January28th, we gather together to celebrate his birthin the March of the Torches. Jos Mart was bornin Havana and vigorously opposed injustice andoppression from a very early age. As an adolescent, his unwavering commitment to the full dignity ofman earned him a prison sentence where he wassubjected to forced labor in the quarries. But prisondid not deter him and his continual confrontationwith the Spanish colonial government forcedhim to spend most of his short life45 yearsinpolitical exile.Cuban literature was enriched by Marts simple,

uent style and his personal, vivid imagery. Hiswritings include poems, newspaper articles, reviews, letters, diaries, essays and politicalwritings, which have been gathered in over 50volumes in Marts Obras Completas [CompleteWorks].While Marts poetry is considered by many asthe precursor of the Spanish American literary

movement known as Modernismo, he is alsoconsidered the founder of modern politicalthought in Cuba. After all, he created the CubanRevolutionary Party and organized the necessarywar of 1895.

In 1953, on the centenary of his birth, the Federationof University Students decided to pay tribute toMarts memory in what would become known asthe March of the Torches. On the eve of January28th, people lled the streets to show their civicattitude as well as the signi cance of the day. This act had added meaning because it occurredduring the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, whoseized power through a military coup, assumedthe presidency, and suspended the constitution in1952. As such, at 11:30pm on Tuesday, January 27th,a huge mass of torch-bearing youth descended the

steps of the University of Havana to march throughthe streets. The human avalanche completed their journey shortly after midnight upon their arrivalat the quarries where the 17-year-old Mart hadserved his sentence. After the Revolution of 1959, the March of theTorches acquired a more festive mood. Today, many of the students who take part in the marchare driven by the festive atmosphere and notnecessarily the true meaning of the celebration.Sixty years after the rst march, however, onething is certain: the streets of Havana continue to

ll with youth holding torches on the evening of January 27th.

In Cuba, the most important event in the Chineseyear begins at the large pagoda-style ChinesePortico, a gate built in 1999 that leads into BarrioChino. It starts with the traditional dragon and liondances along streets packed with women, men andchildren of all ages. Both Chinese descendants andCubans come to see the dances performed to thesound of gongs and drums as they parade downthe street.Barrio ChinoCubas Chinatown, or Barrio Chino, is centeredaround Zanja, Amistad and Dragones Streets inthe heart of Centro Habana. This Chinatown wasfounded between 1847 and 1874 when 150,000Chinese people arrived in Havana, most of themmen. In the beginning, the Chinese immigrantsstayed true to their customs, mostly marryingmembers of their own community, but as manystarted to immigrate to other countries, the oneswho chose to stay began to marry Cubans. Today, most Chinese-Cuban are a mix of their Chineseancestors with Spanish and African descendants. From 1869 until the rst half of the 20th century, different waves of free Chinese, mostly fromCalifornia, came to Cuba to escape discriminatorylaws. The Californians, as they were called, laidthe economic foundation of Havanas Chinatown, opening street cafes, fruit and vegetable stands,

laundries, grocery stores, and family businessestypical of Chinatowns all over the world. At onepoint, Havanas Barrio Chino was the largest andmost economically important Chinese communityin Latin America. They also established a largenumber of self-proclaimed leisure and educationalclubs, including the Kuomintang and the Chi KongTong. With the dissolution of private businesses in 1959,many Chinese left the country, which led to thedeterioration of the Chinese district. However,in 1990, thanks to the efforts of the Group forthe Advancement of Chinatown, the support oflocal authorities and the help of the Government

Today, the remainingChinese and their descendants maintain a distinctcommunity with traditional Chinese associations,a Chinese-language newspaper, restaurants, pharmacies, martial arts schools, opera andcinema.

There are a few must-see sights in thisneighborhood, such as the Kwong-Wah-Po(Peoples Chinese Newspaper), which is still beingpublished; a Chinese movie theater, where originalversions of movies are featured; and an oddChinese homeopathic pharmacy and the House ofChinese Arts and Traditions, which brings togethera community of descendants of Chinese families

who seek to cultivate their ancestors traditionsand culture. The Cuban School of Wu shu, well-known for its work in promoting this martial artand Chinese culture, promotes a healthy lifestylefor the body and mind.Chinese New YearChinese New Year is the most important of thetraditional Chinese holidays. It marks the endof the winter season, analogous to the WesternCarnival. The festival begins on the rst day of the

rst month in the traditional Chinese calendarand ends with Lantern Festival on the 15th day.Chinese New Years Eve, a day where Chinesefamilies gather for their annual reunion dinner, orEve of the Passing Year.Because the Chinese calendar is lunisolar, theChinese New Year is often referred to as theLunar New Year. Each lunar year is representedby an animal, and the year 2014 is marked bythe presence of the Dragon a mythologicalsymbol that represents fertility, immortality andhappiness. According to Chinese predictions, this is a strongyear given that it is a yang yearpositive, bright, and masculinewhere the gure of the dragonreigns. The Dragon brings a year of contradictions, authoritarianism, force, power, but it is alsoconsidered a year of luck and good fortune inthe areas of health, wealth and long, so join theChinese in Barrio Chino to celebrate the advent ofthis glorious year!
